It started out small, unnoticeable. People would fall asleep, but never wake up.

It got bigger. People would fall at school, work, or in their homes.

It all went dark. Out of the few still were standing half were driven on the one-way road to insanity.

It all started on a little island in the middle of the Ciss Sea named Archos. The country was oftentimes forgotten. It's inhabitants rarely communicated with the outside world for they felt safe in the bubble that surrounded them. Few were brave enough to venture beyond their little island to the mainland.

The first of those few was a young girl named Lily she dreamt of seeing the world. For most, she would be called a seeker. Seeking for a magical place that she could call her home.

As she sailed to the mainland she didn't know she had a refugee aboard her ship. Little did she know that she was carrying an illness that the Archos people had been immune to for centuries. Little did she know she would cause the death of millions of people.

The late September night air was fairly warm, but the wind, on the other hand, was chilling and froze absolutely anything that dare crossed paths with it. These were the nights most wished that the plague had already taken them before they started rationing, before the culling, before family and friends died, before the death date. The night where it would just stop. The few scientists that lived couldn't tell if it would hurt or be peaceful.

A scream shattered the quiet peace echoing off the stone walls in the city. The residents had gotten used to the screams since they started a week after rationing. At first, they wondered what happened to the old woman who disappeared, but as the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into months the cold hard truth hit them.

Now when the so-called "Peacekeepers" killed another person to save supplies so other people could live no one dared to challenge them, but no one liked it.

The "Peacekeepers" were strong, and when pure-hearted Cally Winder did challenge them she was shot that very night. This left her daughter Octavia in ruins.

After that unfortunate incident on the Winder family. Augustus Winder decided to join his beloved wife. Leaving his two sons, and daughter. By themselves, but together.  The family was left broken, but they looked out for each other.

Austin the oldest still hurt, but he built up a wall and didn't let anyone in.

Dakota the middle blocked himself out rarely talking, and a frown seemed to always cover his face.

Octavia was the youngest and the only girl. Before her mother died she always had a radiant glow surrounding her. After her mother's death, she broke. She would lock herself in her room for days at a time. Austin and Dakota worried for her, and for the night that they would lose her.
