I awoke in the middle of the night, sleep suddenly gone. I reached over the side of the bed, and grabbed my phone. 3:26.

Casting a curious glance around the dark room, I dragged myself to my feet and across it. I reached for the handle of my window, hoping to get some fresh air -

I froze.

Silently, I moved closer to my window. Peeking through the blinds, I saw a figure out on the tree. In all my seventeen years here, I've never seen anyone else on that tree. Nobody.

I peer closer, but the person's under a dark hood, just a faint silhouette of them visible. I watch them lean back, watching the sky, an arm looped around an up-bent knee.

Lifting my arm, I pushed the blind down further -

The person casts their eyes to my window.

I didn't move.

Seeing nothing, but sensing another presence, the person slowly but elegantly rose to their feet.  He or she was petite, but that was all I could see before he or she snuck into the opposite house. A few seconds later, I hear the door inside open and close, and I let out a puff of breath.
