Wet, wet, wet. I sat up right and gasped. I glared at the dog who thought she was my alarm clock, Misty. As I wiped my face, Misty ran into the other room and had come back with her food bowl in tow. I laughed, "I know, I know."
On the way to the kitchen, I passed my mirror. I stopped for a second and took a long hard look. Misty sat by my feet, knowing that there was no snapping me out of these moments. Three years, I thought. It's been three years since I was Princess Lena.
I was living in a quiet little village, not too far from the castle I had grown up in. Of course, when I had first escaped everyone went crazy. There were posters everywhere, and tons of wild theories as to what had happened to me.
Only I knew.
Now, when I step outside, everyone carries on with their day as if nothing had ever happened. There are still a few posters hung around the village, but they're all torn up and barely visible.
Misty sighed at my feet. I looked down and smiled at her, "let's go get you breakfast." I walked to the kitchen and poured her a bowl of food before heading to the door to check the newspaper.
