Nana's P.O.V.
"It's because I like you Nana. Like, LIKE like you." Zane told me. I was shocked. I didn't know what to say. It's not that I didn't like him back... did I? Did I like Zane Ro'Meave? "Zane... I like you too." I hugged him tighter. I looked up and saw him blushing. "Nana.. canIpleasekissyou?" He said rather quickly. "Zane... you don't need to ask permission to do that." I said shyly. He tilted my head up with his hand so I was forced to look at him. His blue eye was so pretty. "Zane, why do you hide your other eye?" I ask. "Well.. you see... I'm blind in that eye. I normally don't let anyone look at it, but I'll make an exception for you." He told me. I lightly brushed the hair so I could see He right eye clearly. It wasn't as vibrant as the other eye, it was sort of glazed over. "Zane. You don't need to hide your flaws from me. I would never judge you." I tell him. He puts his hand on my cheek. Zane leaned in and I leaned it too. There was a very little gap in between us, but Zane quickly closed it with his lips. They were really soft, and he wasn't sloppy either. It was nice. We broke away and gasped for air. "Thank you Zane." I told him. "For what?" He asked. "For being there for me."
Zane's P.O.V.
Nana said she wanted me to stay the night. Since Lily, the meif'wa she shared the room with was rarely home, she insisted that I stay in that bed. Tomorrow was Saturday, so Nana didn't have to worry about the girls for a weekend. She wanted to go to bed, so we got changed and slid under the covers. Nana drifted off more easily than me. Finally, after half an hour of staring at the ceiling, I fell asleep. But that didn't last long. I woke to the sound of the little meif'wa in the bed next to me screaming. She jolted awake almost immediately and looked at me who was sitting up as well. I walked over to her bed and sat next to her. "Nightmare?" I asked her. She just nodded. "It's okay, I get those too." I tucked her in and started to head back to my side of the room when she grabbed my wrist lightly. "Z-Zane? Can you stay with me?" She asked. "Sure." I said. I laid next to her and just hugged her. She hugged back and quickly fell asleep. So did I. This time she didn't wake up screaming. Did she feel safe with me? I wasn't sure how. I was flimsy, I wasn't athletic, I couldn't beat people up, so why did she like me? "For being there for me." The words echoed in my head. It was because I was there for her. She didn't care about any of that stuff. She like me because I was there for her. The next morning I woke up to Nana still asleep. Her little body moving up and down in sync with her breathing. I slowly moved my hands away from her and got up. I put on my black striped hoodie and jeans. I saw Nana roll over and I smiled. She started to stir, and wake up. "Hey Zane." She said sleepily. "Hey." I said. I gave her a kiss on the forehead when Jordan walked in. "I thought I told you not to get sexual with my sister." He said, a little angrily. "I know sir. I didn't. I swear." I said. "You two slept together. Don't lie to me." He spat. "She needed comfort, so that's what I gave her." I looked at Nana, who nodded in agreement. "Alright. But I have my eyes on you." And on that note he left. "Hey Zane? I'm gonna change so could you um.." Nana said. "Oh! Yeah, sure!" I said as I exited the room. I looked at my phone that said I had two text messages from my brother, Garroth.
G: Zane where r u? Moms starting to worry
G: I told her tht ur sleeping over a friends house stay safe :D
I decided to text him back. Just to let him know that I'm alive.
Z: I'm fine. Don't worry about me. I'll be home at about 11
...
G: alright I'll tell Mom
Z: K
G: Cya
Z: Ok
I heard Nana opening the door. "Zane, you can come in now if you'd like." She told me. I entered the room. She sat on her bed and beckoned me to sit with her. She was wearing this:
"So.. I'm gonna have to go home soon." I told her. "Aww." She says sadly. She kisses me on the cheek and I pulled her near me with one arm. "Will you be okay without me?" I ask, looking into her eyes. Nana's eyes looked like sunflowers. I'm not sure who would want to hurt my sunflower. "Yeah. You could Skype me, but I might be busy doing homework." She told me. "Alright." I looked at the clock. 10:45. Were we really asleep for that long? "I have to go. I'll see you soon, my sunflower." I tell her as I kiss her goodbye. I walked down the street, trying to take in what happened.
I have a girl. I have my sunflower. MY sunflower. She's mine. I turn left to reach my street, River Way. It was a nice, quiet neighborhood. I see our big, brown house up ahead. I go up the walkway and open the door as silently as I could. I heard the sound of scurrying footsteps and soon saw Garroth come from the kitchen. "Garroth what are you-." "Shhhh. She'll hear you." He tried warning me, but it was too late. "ZU ZU?! IS THAT YOU I HEAR?!" I hear my mother say from upstairs as she comes down them. She embraced me in a hug. "Oh my little Zu Zu! I was so worried about you! Where even were you?" She asked me. "I was at uh... a friends house! Yeah." I say. "Next time, tell me instead of your brother. Okay?" "Okay Mom."
