I'll take you back to the first day I met him,the first day I met Brook.
Pulling myself out of bed to the wailing of my alarm clock at 7:30am on a Saturday I was seriously questioning why I was sacrificing the most sacred part of my weekend-my Saturday lie-in. Closing my eyes and telling my-self just 5 more minutes the screams of two, irritating toddlers (my brother and sister) and the exaperated shouts of a woman (my mother)dragged me back to reality, and my reason for giving up my most treasured time of the week.
Shrugging on my thread bare dressing gown and slipping my feet in to a pair of too-small-slippers I trudged along the narrow hall-wave of my family's three-bedroom council flat. Dragging me feet through a sea of rubbish, toys and children's clothes I fumbled through the darkened hall-way until I was thrown into the bright light of the kitchen.
"Jesus! Why is it so damn bright in here?"I wailed sheilding my eyes from the burning sunlight.
"I just thought that opening the curtains would make it seem more happy and bright in here,"sighed a tired, wrinkled looking woman that I could barely recgonise as my mother anymore,"I'm beggining to wish I hadn't,it just makes the place look worse,"
Glancing around the kitchen I could see what she meant, the bin was over-following with rotting food and nappies,in the sink was weeks worth of washing up,cereal and various other bits of food covered the floor. It was shameful, how had we let it get so bad,it was simple really wasn't it?Dad had left us and that's when we started tumbling down into a spiral of regret and pity.
Picking my way across to the fridge I opened it up and almost threw up from the smell.Honestly,I thought something had died in there, poking around I found the source of the vile stench,a carton of milk that had gone off a MONTH ago!
"Oh for God's sake! Why is nothing ever good in this house do us a favour and buy us antother carton of milk darling?"Wailed my mother, pressing a fiver in my hand she hurried me back into the darkness of the corridor.
Once in my room again, and fighting the urge to clamber back into bed I pulled on a pair of skinny jeans and a hoody, dragging a brush through my corn silk coloured hair I applied a flick of mascara pushed on my old worn and sneakers and opened the door out onto the balcony.
That is the best thing about living here I suppose on a crystal clear morning like today and you could see for miles!
Creeping along the blacony I was careful not wake any other residents not that they would have any such respect for me,but if I woke them up then God forbid what would happen. As I reached the elevetor shaft I was shocked but, pleasantly surprised that for once the lift was infact in order!Although there was a small, supicous looking puddle in the corner apart from that it was shockingly clean.
Walking out of the lift I slammed straight into the hard, muscely body of the most gorgeous boy I'd ever met, and looked into a pair of crystal blue eyes that had my stomache doing flips.
And that was when I knew that I had found the one.
