Jessica's Angels

It all began with Maria and Ruben having four children. Jessica is the oldest of four, then Miguel, Cristina, and Eva. They live in small town called Palos Altos, Jalisco. They had a ranch there, but it was so quiet there that you could hear a pin drop. It was so quiet because they lived far away from all of the rest of the people. They all thought it was great that they lived far away, but the bad thing was the fact that they were also super far away from the stores and school. To get to school Jessica, Miguel, Cristina, and Eva had to walk under the sun for two hours straight, and they could not take a break because then they would get to school late. They would arrive at school with sweat dripping down their foreheads and dying of thirst.

One Sunday night Jessica's mom and dad went to buy the groceries they would need for the week. Normally, it takes them about two hours to get back, but four hours had passed when Jessica and her siblings heard a loud noise. They all dropped their conchas and hot chocolates on the ground to go check what that noise was from. When they all get passed the door they see their car upside down. Jessica tells her younger siblings to stay back while she goes towards the car with tears running down her face. When she gets to the car Jessica realizes that both of her parents are in super bad conditions, so she decides to run to her boyfriend Ruben's house, because his dad is a doctor. She was hoping her father-in-law could do something to help, but unfortunately it took her five hours to come back with Ruben's dad and it was too late.

After that tragic occurrence they all had a restless night; they were crying because they did not know what they would do now.

Eva asked Jessica, "What are we going to do? Are you going to take care of us, since you are the oldest?"

Jessica replied by saying "I think so, I am 21 so I could gain legal custody of all of you, but let's go to sleep because tomorrow is going to be a long day. "

The day afterwards she woke up early and made breakfast for her and her siblings. While she made french toast, bacon and eggs she told herself that she would be strong for her siblings. With the smell of the delicious food she was making, all of her siblings went down. They heard a knock on the door and Jessica went to open it.

"Hey, I heard what happened, are you okay?" Ruben asked Jessica

"I've been better, but I have to be strong to be able to take care of my siblings," Jessica replied.

" What do you mean? Are you not putting them in adoption?" Ruben asked Jessica.

Jessica was so mad, you could see her vein popping out of her forehead, " What is wrong with you? these are my siblings and I will never leave them!"

"If you don't leave them then sorry but I have to leave you, I don't want to take care of kids," Ruben said it with such an attitude that it made Jessica more mad.

"I think it is better that you leave forever because after this I know you are not the person I want!" Jessica yelled this with such an anger that she began crying.

They all went to their parents' funeral. Cristina, who was four years old, did not know what was happening, Eva, who was 12, was crying next to her 14 year old brother. Jessica was trying to be strong, but her best friend Jose saw that she wanted to cry so he went by her side and tried to make her feel better. Jose took the kids out so they could get some fresh air, and Jessica could let her feelings out without them being there. Jessica was so thankful with Jose for helping her out that she invited him over to eat. He came over and they were all eating some amazing spicy tamales with their warm hot chocolate when Cristina began to ask for her parents.They tried to explain what happened, but she would not understand so instead Jessica and Jose took them to sleep.

Two months had passed and Jose had been by Jessica's side, but Jessica had been struggling with the responsibility of her siblings. Jessica felt horrible because she did not know how to tell Cristina her parents had passed away.

At night, Jessica,without any more strength, began to say "Mom and dad please tell me a way I can tell Cristina that you guys are not with us."

Out of nowhere, Jessica begins to hear a voice that makes her jump at first, because she was not expecting an answer, and the voice was her parents telling her

"Tell her that we are now angels and that we will take care of her from up here"

Jessica was so thankful that her parents gave her an answer that it doesn't even let her process the fact that she just talked to her dead parents. The next morning she got up and went straight to Cristina's room to tell her that her parents were now taking care of her up in the sky, and she became happy knowing they were safe and that they were angels that would be taking care of her.

Jose went everyday over to the ranch to help Jessica out with anything that she needed, and later on they both fell in love. Jessica was not sure she could be with Jose because she knew she had the responsibility of her siblings which she already felt like it was too much. That night, Jessica decided to ask her parents for advice on what to do, but they did not respond. Jose asked Jessica if she wanted to be his girlfriend, however four months have passed and he has not received any response.

That next morning, Eva woke up with a really high fever that made her cheeks were bright pink and she also began to get pale and her lips turned purple. Jessica had not seen anybody get this bad health wise, so she had no clue what to do. When she was calling a doctor for Eva, she heard her mom's voice. Jessica, with such a relief, looked back to hear what she had to say

"I know you had to stay with this big responsibility and all I want you to know is that you should not stop yourself from having happiness, and instead go with Jose because what you guys have is true love. For your sister while the doctor arrives, put towels with cold water on her head, give her water, and give her some medicine"

Jessica could not explain the joy she had after talking to her mom, she began to cry of happiness. She then went to the cabinet of medicine and took the two jars she needed and then decided to take five towels with cold water and went upstairs with Jose and Eva. When the doctor arrived he told Jessica that everything would be alright and after the medicine she had received the fever would go away.

After the doctor left, Jessica went running back inside to the house and started yelling

"Jose! Come downstairs."

Jose went running for a weapon because he thought that Jessica was in trouble. When Jose got to the bottom of the stairs all he did was scare Jessica because she was not expecting him with a weapon. Immediately he put it down and said sorry, and asked why she called him down. She told him that she had finally made a decision to the question he asked her. He knew right away what she was talking about and he was so excited that you could hear his heartbeat and his eyes got this bright light in them, and she said that she would love to be with him. He then kissed her and hugged her, and while they were hugging she heard the voice of her parents saying "You made a great choice, and we will always be with you."
