She stared at me, quiet, her deep hazel eyes boring into mine.
Neither of us could feel the rain and in that moment, time stopped and everything faded into the night.
It was just us;
two ravens caught up in the storm with nothing but our feathers to keep us from the weather
our broken wings to shelter us from the wind.
We didn’t feel the cold biting into our skin, or water seeping into our clothes
we had found warmth in the fire in each other’s eyesIt was in that moment that I promised her forever.
with nothing but my love to give
And she took my words and turned them into gold
Together We’d built fortresses and brought down empires
Rode dragons in the night and painted rainbows in the sky
I was her muse
And she my fuse
I was lost in her smile,
Enchanted by her voice
Bewitched by her laugh
I was an addict to her kisses
A slave to her body.
So I got down on my bended knee
Looked up at the angel standing before me
Lightning struck and thunder clapped as the words left my shivering lips
We were both too consumed with each other that we forgot
Forgot that the world around us was still spinningA blaring horn
Screeching tires
It was all over in a second
I turned
She lay there next to me
Her hazel eyes still fixed on me
A smile on her face
And as my clock made its last chime
I heard her voice again
“Yes”
