I Woke Up Gasping For Air, A Few Things Knocked Over From My Bedside Table on The Floor and A Sore Throat From Screaming. My Breathing Was Slowing Gradually and My Body Was Drenched With Sweat. I Looked At The Clock On My Desk, 9:45, Eventhough I Wish I Didn't Have To, Getting Up and Having a Shower Was My Main Priority At The Moment, The Idea Of Sitting In A Puddle Of My Own 'Trauma Sweat' Wasn't Making Me Feel as If A Hundered Bucks Either. As I Scuttled Around Trying To Get Up, My Door Slowly Creakes Open, Kieran Stood There, His Black Hair Flopped On His Face and His Eyes Soaked In Sleep. It Reminded Me Of How Dad Looked In His Child Hood Photos, The Ones We Would See Every Time Gran Visited.
"Linc, Dude, Shut Upppp..-You Realise I Was Sleeping Right, I Want To Be Awake On The Flight, So Mind Not Screaming Your Arse Off," He Murmered In His Sleep Induced State. DAMN IT! I Nearly Forgot, It Was The second Last Day Of The Summer Holidays, That Meant I Was Flying To New York Today. My Father Just Got A Hell Load Of Money After He Was Offered A Job There As A British Representitive For This Company He Works For - I Didn't Really Pay Attention To His Job. Where Was I, Oh Right, Goodbye London!
-------
Just After I Dragged Myself Out Of The Warm Shower, I Pulled On My Cothes; Black Skinny Jeans, A White t-shirt, A Grey Beanie and My Glasses - Which By The Way I Needed Considering Otherwise I Was Blind as A Bat. Growing Up I Was Told I Dressed Like One Of The Guys, I Didn't Really Know If It Was A Compliment or Not, To Me It Was Just Another Thing People Said. I Put My Hair In A Grey Beanie, Nabbed My Phone and headed Downstairs.
When I Got There Dad Sat On The Dining Table, With A Coffee In One Hand and The Paper In The Other, Reading The Sports Section. My Brothers Sat Around The Table As They Fought Over The Last Piece Of Toast - For Crying Out Loud- , Charlie Was Obviously Winning This Round Of' Snatch The Food'. My Brothers Were My Main Concern In Life, After What Happened, I Feel As If It's My Responsibility To Act More Like A Mother towards them Instead Of An Annoying Older Sister, Unfortunately, I'm Not Exactly The 'Sensitive Mother' Type, I Play Cricket and Football, I Own 15 Football Shirts - 6 Signed By The Actual Players- and Finally My Precious Little Book Collection, My Portal Gun To An Unlimited Amount Of Worlds, Where I'm The Main Character.
If Your Wondering Why I Turned Like Such A Tom Boy, Let Me Explain, I Have 6 Brothers- That's Right I Said 6. Eli Was The Youngest, He's Turning 7 This Year and He Was Quiet And Shy Unlike The Rest Of Us, Kieran Is Next, He's 11 Now and He's A Big Mouth -Not Telling Him Secrets Is Key-, Then We Have Thomas, He's a 14 Year Old Kid Genius Yet He Still Is Popular From My Knowledge and Quite The Charmer With 13 Year Old Girls - I Can't Believe I Just Said That. Don't Worry 4 More To Go..
Then We Have The Older Crowd, Charlie's 16 and A Total Trouble Maker, From My Knowledge Of Picking Up The Calls From My Head Teacher, Detention Is His Second Home, Then It's Me, Lincoln, and My Twin Brother, Haymitch, We're 18 and The Names...Let's Just Say My Parents Had A Weird Phase Going On, and Then Finally We Have CJ, He's 19 and The Oldest and He Never Let's Us Forget That.
"Lincoln, Eat Something And Finish Packing Then Clean Up Your Room, The Flight's at 6, We Leave at 3," My Father Was Now At The Sink Washing His Chelsea Mug, The Thing He Treasures Most In This House. I Had Totally Spaced Out Just Thinking About My Family.I Thwarted In My Mind Trying To Find A Way To Get Atleast Some Food Off The Table Without Causing A Scrimmage. I Darted Towards The Table As Thomas' Hand Tried To Reach For The Last Strip Of Bacon, This Round Of 'Snatch The Food' Was over, I Am Now The Victor!...
------
At 12pm, My Bags Were Finally Packed, I Didn't Have Many Considering I Wasn't Interested In Going Shopping In One Of Those Crowded New York Shoppin Centres. I'm Not Exactly Picky So I Just Flung Everything From My Cupboard Into The Bags and Zipped 'em Up. 1 Huge Suitcase, A Little One and My Backpack Stashed With Electronics Leaned Against My Bedroom Wall As I Picked Up The Last Few Things Off The Floor From Earlier. A Few Minutes Later, I Found Myself Sat On The Bed And Taking In My Bare Room. It Was The Last Time I Was Ever Going To Be Here, So I Reminiscied On All My Favourite Memories, The Time I Tripped When I Was 6, Hit The Table Managing To Loose My Tooth, The Time I Found My Brother Crying On My Bed About His First Break Up Went Terrible and For The First Time We Talked Liked Siblings, The Time I Broke My TV After I Lost Control Of My Cricket Bat With Mitchy...
"Lincoln Rose Harding, I Have An Urgent Message For You!" I Heard The Voice From Down Stairs However It Wasn't Anything Bad. I Grabbed My Bags and Headed Downstairs, A Smile Clearly Plastered On My Face, Perceptive Of What I Was Going To Find!..
------
Just As I Got To The Bottom Of The Stairs The Source Of The Voice Revealed It Self. Henry Was Situated On My Sofa With His Hands along with His Legs Crossed, With A Funny Grouchy Face, Looking Like A 5 Year Old Who Just Got Told He Couldn't Have Ice Cream. Henry Was Like Another Brother To Me, He Grew Up A Couple Houses Down and We - Mitchy, Henry, Lucia and I That Is- Were Inseperable Growing Up. Lucia Was My Best Mate, We Were Completely Different But Were Incredibly Cunning as A Duo, She Cried Her Eyes Out Last Week And Made Sure I Left Before She Cried More. Henry on The Other Hand Agreed That He Would Be The Last Person To Say Goodbye.
"Licoln!" Before I Knew It He Was Running Towards Me, Arms Flaying In The Air. He Hugged Me Tighter and After Acknowledging The Fact I Hated Hugs, He Hugged Me Tightier -Between You and Me, If It Wan't Henry I Would've Of Wacked The Person. We Sat Down On The Couch and Just Talked Memories Really, I Wasn't Up For A Sentimental Thing, But After Hearing A Couple Stories From When We First Met and From Primary, It Actually Made Me Happy To Talk About The Past.
A While Passed and We Still Sat There Chatting Away and Gossiping Like A Couple Of 12 Year Olds About Justin Bieber Or One Direction. It Was Nearing 2pm Now and My Brothers Were Squabbling About Which Room they Were Gonna Get In The House, I Was More Then Happy They Were Excited About America, Me On The Other Hand, Had Always Thought That It Wouldn't Be Good For My Planned Education. I Had Received and Acceptance From Stanmore Last Summer, and I Couldn't Have Been More Over Joyed Considering How Much Effort I Put Into The Submission, That's Untill My Father Had To Ruin The Fun and Just Mension New York - Frustration Couldn't Even Start To Describe How I Felt.
I Couldn't Believe That In Less Than 24 Hours, I Could Be Thousands Of Miles Away From The Comfort Of This Little, Peaceful Home and In Some Giant House My Dad Payed A Butt Load Of Money For. People Kept Warning Me About The 'Dangers Of New York City' and How That The People There Dont Neccesarily Act In the Same Way Londoners Do. I Couldn't Care Less About That, My Goal At The Moment Was Too Get There and Get Settled In To My New College, Columbia Something, I Forget The Name and I Wasn't Too Keen On Remembering It.
------
At 2:30 On The Dot, The Taxi Showed Up, Or At Least What My Dad Described as A Taxi, The Thing Was Huge You Could My Family In There and Another 40 People, I Wasn't Used To This Money Changing All The Little Things In Our Lives. The Driver Got Out and Started To Load The Bags Into The Car, Right After My Dad Tagged Them So We Could Find Them At Baggage Claim. Henry Had To Leave As His Mum Kept Ringing Him and She Absolutely Hates Me, So I Told Him It Was Better If He Leaves Without Her Fnding Out. We Finished Of Our Goodbyes and He Headed Off In His Car, A Little Red Truck His Dad Got Him For His 16th.
I Sat Back In The Car Trying Not To Think Of How America Will Be, A Whole New Country. I Jammed My Headphones In To My Ears, Pulled Out Paper Towns From My Bag, and Just Started To Read Whilst Everyone Carried On Doing What They Were Around Me...
------
As We Approached The Airport Eli Grabbed My Hand, He Had Never Been On A Plane Before furthermore He Was The One Exception For Holding Hands Round Here. I Grabbed My Trolley Bag and Slung My Yoda Back Pack Over My Bag, Fixing My Glasses. My Nerdiness Couldn't Be Higher Right Now, I Liked It That Way. I Located A Trolly and We Loaded The Bags On To Them. The Eight Of Us Headed Towards The Check-In and My Mood Was Rapidly Changing.
My Step Was Happy and I Was Sprisingly Smiling When We Stepped Through The Boarding Gates, Walking Down The Tunnel Towards The Plane, Was I Actually Excited To Leave Home, Leave My Friends, Leave My Life....
