15.

Henry began shoving me towards the car until I stopped resisting and willingly hid under it. Once completely under, I turned back to see him slowly get up to his knees and open the trunk just enough to get his gun out.

As he began to shut the trunk, lights from behind flooded the area and he immediately dropped to the ground. He looked me in the eyes and put one finger to his lips to signal to be quiet. Then he slowly raised himself off the gravel and looked over the side of the car to see what was going on. I started to turn to face the house too. By the time I was halfway turned around we heard someone shout out from the house:

"Hey, Jordan, whose car is that? I thought everyone was here." A male voice asked.

"Let me go ask Zack," Someone else said.

After they finished talking the lights stayed on and I searched for Skylar and Cam from my view under the car. I saw Skylar's boots further up to the house behind a few trees but couldn't find Cam. Skylar began to slowly shift herself so that she was on one knee instead of standing like before. She raised her bow, glanced over at Henry, nodded, and turned her attention back to the house.

Then I realized Cam was stuck in the car. He hadn't left it like Skylar, Henry, and I did. So that means it was just Skylar, Henry, and me fighting against the Drakes and their Loyals, and I wasn't allowed to shoot a gun.

Great.

The lights turned back on and everything seemed to stop for a few seconds. Someone opened the front door of the house and stepped onto the driveway pavement. Skylar's feet shifted quietly and the man on the driveway began to walk forward. With each step, silence grew louder and tension grew stronger. At times like this you have to remember to breathe...

"I don't recognize the car." The man said. He paused, and then continued, "So I go closer?"

"Yeah, but wait, let me go get my pistol. I'll go with you." Another voice said, coming from behind, perhaps inside the house. As it spoke, it trailed off as if getting farther from the man on the pavement.

The man on the pavement mentioned Henry's car. Which reminded me that Henry was still behind me, and could be in sight of the house now that the lights were on. Obviously he wasn't since the man on the pavement didn't acknowledge him. Where did Henry go? I would've looked back but I was too concentrated on what was happening in front of me.

All alone, the man on the pavement began shifting himself to see what was going on around him. I glanced at Skylar, who looked to be in her shooting stance.

Skylar's shooting stance, from what I saw when she almost shot me in Borders, is very intimidating. With both feet planted evenly on the ground, arms extended so that one hand controls the trigger and the other provides support for the bow, placed shoulders back with the butt of the crossbow resting on the arrow bag strap on her left shoulder, and her hair flipped out of the way on her right shoulder, it's hard not to feel helpless.

She stood in her stance and spared a few seconds for concentration. Fortunately, the man on the pavement was still oblivious to what was going on, and it made Skylar's intention a lot easier to reach.

She shot the bow and the man on the pavement blew over as if a domino. I couldn't tell where the arrow hit but I know it was fatal, because once he fell he remained motionless. As if to prove to everyone she was a fantastic archer, Skylar had not only shot but also killed a man with just one arrow.

Silence once again took over the area after the man on the pavement died. It seemed as if the silence would never end, but it did once the front door opened again. The other Loyal, who went to go get his pistol, stepped out onto the pavement.
