Aurora imagined herself in a calm pond with the quiet wind blowing around her. Suddenly she noticed a quiet, soft voice. "Now open your eyes," the voice said. Rory opened her eyes.
"For the hundredth time your stupid meditation treatment is not working", Rory yelled as her counselor's eyes got narrower. Miss Timskey closed her eyes and started counting. "1...,2....,3", her raspy voice said. Rory decided to leave the awkward situation quickly. She slipped out the door of the counselor's office into the quiet hallway. Rory ran to the bathroom in the basement of Misty Intermediate School.
There was no sense in going back to her seventh-grade classes, she would not understand what was going on, anyway. Rory had not been to any classes in the last week. The basement bathroom was always empty.
All of the mirrors there were broken, but one. Rory looked in the mirror and unbraided her dark black hair from underneath her black beanie. Then she took her lipstick out of the pocket of her black ripped jeans and coated her lips with a dark gray lipstick.
Suddenly she heard a piece of glass fall into the sink on the other side of the bathroom. Rory walked over and touched the broken mirror. Suddenly the floor gave in. She fell deeper and deeper until she hit a cold, hard floor.
