Chapter 3: Bond
I woke up at 10:00. I stretched out my sore body.
"Man that was some dream..." I scratched the back of my head. "No...it was too realistic to be a dream..."
"Charlie! Breakfast is ready." My mom yelled from downstairs.
Does mom know about dad? Does she know he's fucking guys? It has to be some sick dream. I got myself together, and went downstairs to the delicious smell of pancakes. I saw my dad was already eating. I didn't want to make eye contact with him so I sat down, and looked down.
"How did you sleep sweetie?" My mother asks.
"O-okay mom." I stuttered. My father peeked up, and smiles.
"Morning son."
"Morning...dad.." I took a bite from the pancake, and tried to avoid any conversation with him.
After breakfast I had to attend to university. My stomach felt so uneasy. I grabbed my satchel, and headed for the car.
I sat in trigonometry dumbfounded. I couldn't make out the mumbling the professor was saying. I decided to ditch classes, and return home. My mind wasn't in the game nor in reality. I couldn't believe what I witnessed. I don't even know how I can approach James normally.
"Charlie, since you are home early, do you mind bringing me some wine from the cellar? We are having pot roast tonight, and I want to celebrate." My father said to me as I was walking upstairs.
"Okay." I left to go to the wine cellar. I went to the wine section, and grabbed a random bottle of red wine. Suddenly a hand grabs my wrist making me scream out in fright.
"Ahhh!" I jerked away, and saw it was James.
"Shh." He covers my mouth.
"Why are you here?" I said after he lets go.
"To see you. I have to escape." He pleads.
All I could remember was him receiving from my dad, and I jerked away.
"I can't help you."
"Why?" He grabs my shoulders. His height made me cringe.
"I just can't right now..."
"I thought you love me..." He said depressingly.
"I can't love someone that keeps secrets from me. We have known each other for so long, and you still won't show me your book of notes, your name, why my dad has you. You tell me shit!" I screamed.
"Because it's not your business!" He screams back. I backed away.
"Go back to the fucking shed where you belong!"
The anger in his eyes faded. Hurt was presented on his face, and instantly I felt guilty of my choice of words.
"Look...I didn't mean..."
"Forget it. You're right. I do belong there. Sorry." He walks off, and down the path. What was wrong with me? Why did I say such a horrible thing to him?
The next day I went to the shed to apologize. He sat there expressionless, and he doesn't bother making conversation with me.
"James I'm sorry okay! It's just...you keep so much to yourself, and I want to help you."
"Then help me escape..." He replies.
"I can't now. My father has walls all over the place."
"If not I will die soon....I know it..."
