Inanna Dobrev was drinking her morning coffee while reading the newspaper. It was her usual routine. There was nothing like the smell of fresh coffee in the morning, she thought.
Her best friend, Jennifer, walked groggily into the living room, as she sat down next to Inanna.
"My head hurts." she complained.
Inanna raised her eyebrow as she listened to her best friend.
"You were out all night drinking. What did you expect?" she stated.
Jennifer threw a pillow at Inanna's head. She hated whenever Inanna started sounding like her mother. She loved Inanna but sometimes, she wanted to strangle her for being annoying.
"You need to stop being so uptight. You're like 21, you're suppose to have fun, babe." Jennifer yelled.
Inanna looked at her and laughed. "If fun means waking up the next morning with a huge headache, I think I'm good."
Jennifer sighed. "Firstly, It's called a hangover, and secondly, you need to get laid."
"Sex is not the solution to everything, Jen." Inanna replied calmly, while giving her best friend an aspirin.
"For you, it is. It'll stop making you so uptight. You need some fun in your life." she exclaimed.
"I told you, I'm good, babe." Inanna stated. She was about to get back to reading the article, when Jennifer snatched the newspaper.
"Heyyyyy. Give it back!" Inanna shouted.
"Bitch, listen to me. You haven't dated anyone since your break up with Zach. You need to stop shutting out every possible candidate from your heart. In the words of Elsa, let them in." Jennifer exclaimed.
Inanna looked at Jennifer and then burst out laughing. "Jen, Elsa said let it go."
Jennifer looked at Inanna in disbelief, "Of all the things I said, you're worried about what Elsa said? Bitch, are you with me or what?"
Inanna shook her head, still laughing about what Jennifer had said. If there's one thing Inanna was grateful for was her best friend, Jennifer . Ever since, her break up with Zach. Jennifer had been her support. Inanna had no one else but her and Mr Santiago. Her parents died when she was born. It was her grandmother who had raised her. It was only last year, she had also passed away. It wasn't easy losing her loved ones but somehow, Inanna resigned to the unlucky fate that God had given her.
Inanna was about to leave for work, when Jennifer stopped her. "You hear me loud and clear, bitch. I know you think that you are destined only for pain but that's not true. You're worthy of love."
Inanna shook her head and hugged her best friend. "You know you're crazy right? but thank you."
Inanna had been working as a waitress at this high end Italian restaurant called 'Marino'. It had been a month since she started working there. It was a pleasant environment to work at. The owner, Mr Santiago, was an elderly man who had lost his wife to cancer. He opened the restaurant in memory of his late wife. Despite losing the woman he loved so much, he always had a smile plastered on his face. He would always tell Inanna that his wife would have wanted him to continue to live his life happily even without her. And that's exactly what he was going to do. Inanna had so much respect for Mr Santiago. His love for his wife was something she admired. Even after his death, his love for her still remained unshaken. Men like Mr Santiago were rare.
"Hey kiddo. You're early! Had breakfast already?" Mr Santiago greeted Inanna as she entered the kitchen.
She smiled and nodded.
