To those who let light into the darkness of my mind,
those who led me when i was blind,
the voice that encouraged me in every climb,
Those who said dreams were to be made true,
those who taught me, Love isn't just for you, but others too,
the ones who showed me, we are One, not two,
Its more than a blessing, more than a play of Fate,
more than what i wished for, more than i can ever repay,
but for showing me the truth, making me see the light,
for the gentle encouragements and the heated fights,
for each remark and every word,
for letting me face myself and the world,
Words aren't enough, Goodbye's are tough,
But thank you for your words, wisdom and love.
Not all of you are here, nor I there,
but you'll be with me, forever and always.
I remember the charts on the staffroom walls,
debating "who is a teacher" and answering the Call
And i remember how, in each class that passed,
each of You, made those words come true.
(For one more class there, I'll wish forever,
Till then, i'll find you, in the memories we share together.)
-------------------------
Take it from a person who has changed many schools, the memories can make your heart feel all warm and fuzzy and unbearably happy and sometimes, painfully sad. But the best feeling is the nostalgia, the breeze, the light shower, the puddles through which we splashed together and the lilting laughs we shared with our friends. Then there are the classrooms..returning after years, even if the class is empty, we'll still see the benches filled with chattering classmates, the under-the-benches mischief, the countless pranks, nicknames being whisper-yelled, the teacher frowning at your behaviour, but smiling silently inside, our out-standing (literally) moments..... I've had the pleasure to be taught, no, to be guided by some extraordinary teachers.. And now that I'm not grumbling about sitting through a whole period or submitting an assignment or the real terror- recieving test papers, I realize how blessed I really was.. And even though the world is not a wish granting factory (from The Fault in Our Stars) i've been granted more than I ever wished for. Even though fate has a twisted concept of happily-ever-after, I love what it has put me through..
So..this is kind of a tribute, to the teachers of Mayyanad Higher Secondary School..who showed me who i can be, who taught me, through lectures and classes, but even more through actions and experiences, the infinite truth, the beauty that can be found in all of us..To those who showed me who i could be, those who spun Life's truth into poetry... Thank you.
