We set down the blankets and sit down ourselves, looking up at the bright blue sky from the parting in the tree.

"It's amazing, you know. This really feels like a once in a lifetime experience. And, really, anything now is once in a lifetime," Dan says. "We're so close. Only 9 more hours."

"Dan?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you want to die?"

"Phil, it's not that simple. I know it's coming, I know I'm going to die, and now, I feel it's better to just accept it's coming, and there's nothing we can do about it."

"Oh."

"But I don't want to die. I want to stay. With you. I want to do this all the time, just aimlessly drive around, just talk. I want to be close with you all the time, and I want to grow up with you."

"Dan, I-"

"It's fine Phil, you don't need to say anything. I already know you feel the same way."

"And I couldn't have said it better, bear."
