Authors note: I just want to say that the setting is not mine but Suzanne Collins, and some of the plot is a mix from the divergent and hunger game series. The characters and most of the plot is mine. I would love your feedback on what to keep and what to change.

I wake up to the sound of screaming. I run over to my brother, Caleb and shake him awake. I know what it's like to have someone that you loved been taken away forever. It was just months before when we lost our parents forever.

All four of us were placed in District 9 by the bureau. We were placed in this experiment because the scientists at the bureau wanted some people on the fields and my brother and I volunteered to go, but our parents wouldn't let us go without them. So we left our home and siblings and were placed in the woods where we had to find our way to District 9.

During our second week finding our way to District 9 we had found a little concrete house by a lake where we decided to camp out for the night. We had just settled I for the night, when our parents told us they were going to go hunt for food. All though we would never get that food or our parents back.

I always hate thinking about this moment even though I relive it every night. My parents had been gone for a while so my brother and I went out looking for them.

We found them just as an hovercraft appears out of nowhere. They pick up our mom, and then some kind of spear comes down with a spear attached. I see it go straight through his chest then it lifts him up onto the hovercraft. I hear a faint scream from above. My mother saying her last words, "Jessica, I"

My knees buckle and I fall to the groud. I curl up hugging my knees and cry. Caleb hugs me and gets me to stand. I walk over to the last ground my parents stood on. I pick up the last strand of red hair off of the ground. My last treasure of my mom. I stand up and notice two kids staring at me. They see me and run.

Now I can't stop reliving that moment and wondering what my mother had wanted to say. Caleb and I have screamed and cried together for the last month.

Caleb and I start walking towards the smoke we found yesterday. We hope it's from the factories in District 9. The bureau wanted us to find work and shelter once we got to District 9.

We have a sister who had gotten a job as one of the victor's maids, so I was going to try to be a maid for either the mayor or another victor. Caleb was going to try for a job helping the butcher or the baker.

We follow the smoke until we get to the fence. I listen closely and hear the faint buzz that means the electricity is on. My brother and I decide to come back at dusk when the factory shifts are over for the day. My brother starts to make camp in the tree line while I scout the fence to see the closest it gets to the Victor's Village.

My sister told me before she left that she would tie her pink hair ribbon on the fence by her home. She told me I was destined to go to District 9 with Caleb. She told me not to have anyone else come which that was already broke. She told me that when we go there to tie my blue hair ribbon over her's.

She would come and check every night, and when she finds it, she will volunteer for the games so I can take her place as the victor's maid.

I find her ribbon and as promised I tie my ribbon on top of it. She would take off both ribbons and leave direction to the back door of the house she works and lives in. I didn't tell Caleb about this, but when I get back I do.

He listen though it all, and when I finish all he says is "Sounds like Angelina to me." I smack him on his arm. "Are you kidding! She's our sister and she is basically sending herself to get killed for me!" I start pacing around our campsite, and then I go back to the fence.

I walk around the fence to the place I found Angelina's hair ribbon. I run up to it to find no ribbons and no directions, just light footprints that suggest she was followed, or saw something that gave her a bad feeling. I quickly look around, then climb a tree to see if Angelina comes back, so I can talk her out of volunteering. If I make it before 12 tomorrow I might volunteer for her.

All these thoughts cram my head, and I start to think, could I actually leave Caleb just to get myself killed. I know he isn't allowed to volunteer, because he is 20 and the reaping is only up to 18. How would he live, but how would I live if my Angel volunteers? I think though everything until I am taken out of my trance by the sound of a twig breaking.
