"I'm not yours and you're not mine. Because you're fucking engaged, Kayden. There's no excuse for this, it's disrespectful for Samantha, it's not like she had any choice in this too." I sighed.

Here I was, defending Kayden's fiancee. "We can't keep doing this, Kayden. Not until you break the engagement. Unless, you break it."

||Kayden's POV||

I sort of stormed out of her house. I couldn't help it, it hurt to hear her literally say 'let's take a break but not break up'. All because of this stupid engagement, which I am going to break. Somehow.

I returned to the Shelter and tried to ignore everyone. I rushed to my room and slammed the doors behind me. I carelessly took my shirt off and threw it on the floor only to realize I'm not alone. I quickly turned towards my bed in which a blond girl was half laying comfortably. She had a sad expression on her face and studied me carefully. "Samantha? What are you doing here?" I asked and took a few steps towards her. She remained in her position. "Really? Maybe you could try with 'Samantha how are you?' Or 'how was your day' or even 'what did you do while I was busy with my ex' ...hmm?" She quickly and smoothly jumped to her feet and came real close. "Samantha we are not together-" "Yes we are! We are engaged, we're going to be husband and wife, for Christ's sake!" Suddenly she looked down and bit her lip. I sighed. "I don't want this engagement, Samantha. I never did. I'm sorry if I gave you the wrong message but I have no interest in marrying you. And never had. Look, I know I shouldn't have gone behind your back but I can't help it, and if I could I would do it again. The truth is, with a bit of luck, this engagement will be off soon. Now, Samantha, help yourself out."

I took a few deep breaths and held the phone tightly to my ear. It felt like an eternity before someone picked up. "Father?" I asked, and immediately heard his deep voice. "We need to talk."

"Do I look like I give a fuck what the other families think of me?! I never signed up for this! No, no I will not marry her, father! I get it that you're ill, and I'm sorry, but you don't get to choose my life for me! Fine. Yes. I know. But-No! That's not fair... Fine, we got a deal." I hung up and threw the phone on my bed. An awful deal. I can't believe he'd be so selfish and arrogant to make me do this, just so his and mother's reputation would stay fine. But what about hers?

I don't think I can do it. It will ruin her. But then I think of Julia... and I can't stay away from her, truth is if I could I'd spend the whole days with her. And she's worth it. She's worth it all.

After a whole hour of gathering thoughts, I decided to do it. I walked downstairs, everyone stayed away as they saw I was clearly in a bad mood. I went to the one and only, fuckboy Reggie. He was talking with some friends but I quickly and without a word grabbed his collar and shoved him onto the nearest wall, making sure not to get too much attention. "What the hell, man?!" Reggie whisper-shouted as he ran his fingers through his blond hair. He was really tan, and had bright green eyes. "Shut the fuck up and listen. I don't have much time. I need a favor. But it's not gonna be easy." Reggie frowned and straightened his shirt up. "What's in it for me?" He asked with a half smirk. I sighed. "What do you want?" He smirked fully. "I want your collection of the Seven Silver Blades. I know it was a gift from your parents, but everything's got its price. And I have enough of training with those metallic sticks." Fucking hell. My beautiful fucking blades. "Fine. Meet me in my room in ten minutes, we'll discuss everything."

"You're sure you can do this? You'll have to be careful, she's well trained, so make sure you don't make a sound and have your neck snapped. I'll be there in exactly ten minutes. Make sure you look surprised and panicked. Reggie, if you fucking mess this up I swear-"
"I won't mess this up. I have to admit I am taking a fucking risk so I want something more. After we do this, I want your protection. You'll make sure no one will ask me questions or threaten me. Including her family." I nodded my head. "Done. Now let's do this, she's probably sleeping now."

Reggie left my room five minutes ago. I was sitting with the phone in my hands and getting overwhelmed with guilt. I don't even know if he succeeded. A part of me hopes she'll wake up and realize before it's too late. But I also hope she won't, and father will annul this engagement, even though I'll still have to hold on to the deal we made.

One more minute.

I took a deep breath, then a second one. Before I know it I'm standing in front of her bedroom door, with my phone tightly in my hand.

I'm sorry, Samantha.

I stormed inside the room loudly and turned the lights on. I quickly saw Julia waking up and sitting up, and next to her a half naked Reggie, who looked at me panicked. I took the picture.
"Who the fuck are you?!" Samantha shouted and jumped away from Reggie. "What the hell is happening?!" She quickly stood up and her face reddened. She looked at me. "You bastard! Delete that picture it looks like I've slept with him-" then she realized that was the point. "Kayden I am warning you, do not send this to your parents. I get it, they'll say I cheated and therefore I'm not fit to marry you but you know I didn't. Kayden! It will ruin me, and my reputation!" Reggie pushed aside me to exit the room, just me and Samantha were left. I felt awful.

"I'm sorry, Samantha." I said and sent the photo.
