Why Are You Such a Cactus

"Chalil Thomas?" I looked up from behind the counter and set down the cup I was holding, frowning as I saw a woman and man in extremely suspicious outfits who were looking around, the man began to say my name again as I stood up "why do you need her?" I questioned, while I finished up making the drink as I set it on the counter and shouted the name on the cup, the pair walked up to the counter and lowered their voices "we have evidence that she's a mutant and we wanted to-" the female paused, seemingly hesitating before continuing "-have her join our school, it help's mutants take control of their powers and use them for good." This sounded like absolute bull, I resisted rolling my eyes as I stepped away from the counter "well, you two can leave then cause there's no Chalil Thomas here, never even heard the name" I scoffed, the man and woman looked at each other, giving one another a look of doubt as they walked out and left.

I let out a sigh "thank the gods I left my name tag at home." My co-worker-

"And lover!"

"Are you really interrupting my inner dialogue?" Sorrell giggled as I rolled my eyes "now I lost my train of thought thanks a lot" I mumbled, she only shrugged "well, I'm taking my break" I pulled off my apron and walked out of the café.

The two idiots were still here, they were leaning against the back of a vehicle looking at a map, I sighed whilst speeding up my walk to a quicker pace, I had really hoped they would have just given up and left already because we don't need the customers questioning if we have mutants here at the cafe.

"Miss!"  I sighed, slowly coming to a stop as I turned and faced them with a smile "yes?" I questioned, "is it okay if we asked you a few questions regarding the mutant rumors about your co-workers?"  my hand gripped onto the fabric of my jeans, as I shook my head "no it is not okay because you cannot just go around and assume that whoever is acting slightly out of the ordinary is a mutant and quite frankly it's getting extremely annoying that you always accuse my co-workers of being mutants just because we work at a small town cafe, like that's so unordinary to have in towns." I snapped, before releasing the grip I had on my jeans, the scientists just starred at me as I rolled my eyes "now can you just get lost? I can call the police on you two just for harassment." With no hesitation, the duo nodded their heads and walked back off to their car getting into it and leaving.

Letting out another sigh of relief I pushed my hair back, grateful that with my sudden outburst none of my co-workers saw, or even worse, my boss. I already had promised him that I wouldn't suddenly snap at others again, no matter how much they were bothering my co-workers, or if they were just bothering me. I walked over to my car and got in, just sitting there enjoying the silence, there was only one thing that had really bothered me out of this whole situation that occurred.

How did they find me?
