Sitting beside the fireplace, yet the fire brings him no warmth, He stares deep into the fire, He stares into its soul, He is reminded of those days, yes! those days, the days before age came upon him like night, before the skin beneath his eyes sagged like the breasts of an old woman, before his beard became gray and before he held a stick or does it hold him?
Edward! That was his name then, it rang through the lips of every young girl, he was like no other. His words made the strongest walls for his protection and the most adorable Jewelry to adorn his ladies with, he composed words like a master of music would have composed his notes.
He was soon old news, everyone knew his game but every girl wanted to play, they all wanted the experience, the spark he gave even if it was obvious it was an illusion.
Time flew fast, and in time he grew tired of the games. He wanted to make up for lost time but Edward was not done yet. The name stuck like glue, reaching every town before he did, he was just that sweet temptation and nothing more, no one took him serious, like a soup every one wanted to taste but no one wanted to make a meal of, The game turned on him.
If you can't beat them join them. He followed the old saying to the latter! If the name will not leave, make it a brand he thought, it was exceptional. He became an icon of lust, surrounded by huge walls of pride pretending like it was what he wanted but he was a pawn in a game he created.
Things took an awkward twist when he met Sandra, she was fair, tall and beautiful with amazing red lips like the inside of a Cherry fruit. She was friendly and he was Edward, who else could he have been?
He liked her, after a couple of dates he thought of her every day, it seemed like nothing made sense until he was with her, everything in between seeing her felt so futile. Then it hit him... He was in love ...
He decided it was wise to give her some space maybe it will fade away, he knew where it was going and what it will lead to so it will be unwise to stand in front of a moving train and have the sense knocked out of his heart; the damn thing has not felt anything in so long he thought it had been replaced with cheap plastic bag.
The idea of space did not last as long as candy with a fat kid, it came crumbling down along with his defenses, she had him like a little rat stuck in rat gum.
Sometimes the only way out is through, so he chose to go through, how hard could it be? He was Edward. He got close enough and poured his heart out like a bottle of wine, with his charm at it's zenith, she smiled, blushed and fell under his spell, he tasted her soft lips and fell like a sack of potatoes. "Love, you bloody bastard! You got me this time" he thought to myself paralyzed in the sensation she brought.
He had her for sure! it was obvious she liked him, he had seen that look she had on many times. There was no need to ask, but it's always good to be sure so he asked on a cool evening after they had locked lips like love birds, and lost control like mad lovers, he asked with love in his eyes and a melody to his voice, he asked "will you be my girlfriend, the woman I love and the one for me? " she was silent for a few seconds then she replied "no". He felt pain in his stomach and his mouth instantly ran dry, the master of words had nothing to say, not even to himself. "why? " he asked, but his enquiry found no explanation.
He put his experience of pretence to good use and acted as calm as he could. It did not make sense to him, how? Why? He just could not figure it out.
He thought of her without ceasing, she was sorry she hurt him, but he did not want to play on that because he loved her. He was determined to remain a gentleman as he has always been, he gave her some space but did not avoid her. Time moved like a pregnant woman, and they became "just friends" at least that's what they told themselves.
Soon the friends were at it again, locked in a warm embrace, kissing like their lives depended on it. They fell deeper in love yet it did not feel deep enough to call a relationship. He was dangerous and she knew, she had no experience but him. He was the wolf telling her to come into the night promising not to bite, he loves her but it seemed his nature to manipulate.
When you fight nature, she fights back, he locked up Edward and threw away the key trying to bury the player within under the huge blocks of love. She sensed the struggle within and was proud of him. He cut ties, and tried to let go of the man he once was, it worked... For some months.
A man who surmounts temptation is a man who's temptation can be surmounted, he met his poison Lucy on an innocent evening outing with friends, she was average height, busty and fair, she had the eyes of an angel and her aura was simply beyond explanation. One drink led to another and one thing led to another and they had sex in the bar's restroom. Sandra was not bad in bed but she lacked experience, this was a pro and he remembered all the vile things he missed and used to do. He wanted more not just today but for a while, he was Edward, he could not get caught
It was a really cold evening that day, he called Sandra but she was to go see her mother, so he called Lucy instead. Like always, the went straight to business, kissing and throwing clothes around till there was nothing left but skin on either of them, his kisses feel gentle on her and she moaned in the pleasure of the moment, her moans grew louder with each thrust, she wrapped her arms around his neck moaning into his ears, it was a blissful moment until she stopped abruptly. He looked back and saw Sandra standing there, her eyes red with tears, she did not say a word, she just left, he called her name and ran after her then he remembered he was naked. He ran in and got the nearest clothes he could find but when he came out she was gone.
