Shadows Lie
Not beneath, nor above
Not either side you might see
But within yourself where your heart might be.
It covers your heart,
It covers your soul,
for you may not see,
What you are supposed to know.
Darkness everywhere you go.
You can't feel, you can't see
But it's within you, changing who you are meant to be.
It traps you in disguise.
Shatters your heart while inside.
You struggle to fight
And it drains you out.
Make sure you never know what it's about.
It devours your soul as you read..
Pulling you down into misery,
No more sunshine to see,
No more happiness for you to feel.
Just sadness and despair.
Agony too.
But don't let anybody know.
All you have to do,
Is smile your way through.
