"Scott?" I ask, closing my binder.

Lydia frowns at her phone. "Yeah." She flips the phone over and slides it into her jacket pocket before standing up. "That was weird. But I should go see what he wants. Raincheck?"

"Sure." I bite my lip and turn to my best friend, my legs still folded under me. "Tell Scott that if he ever needs me, call."

"Em--"

"I'm serious! I know that I'm probably an idiot when it comes to Bio, but he's taking up so much of your time, I just--"

"It's fine." She smooths down her dress. "If I want Scott to back down, I'm not afraid to tell him." She sends me a smile.

"That's true." I sigh, looking down at my mess of notebooks and binders. "Good luck, Lyds."

"Thanks." She grabs her bag and walks out of the library.

I close the front door with my foot.

"Hello? Mom?" I call as I walk up the stairs. Silence. Guess she went to a patient's house this time.

I shoulder my way into my room and drop my backpack by the door. I take my laptop from my desk and throw myself onto my bed. Home sweet home.

As soon as I open my laptop, I'm greeted with the YouTube homepage. Liza Koshy videos are staring back at me.

I sigh before clicking on one. Please take away this empty feeling, Liza. I fall back on my mattress and bring the laptop with me.

"... Little brown girl is out!" As soon as she signs off, I turn to the recommended videos.

On the right of the video sits an image of a wolf running through the woods. "Real Life Werewolves!!" My eyebrows furrow and I'm ready to turn off the screen, but something about it is nagging me. What's the worst that can happen? I click the video.

It starts off innocent enough: about two minutes of footage from B-rated movies and commoners caked in makeup. But then he shows up. My eyes narrow and I push myself up. I lean forward until my face is inches away from the screen.

I stop the video. The knot in my chest constricts as I recognize his features. Der-- Derek?

I scramble for my phone. As soon as I have it, I snap a picture of the screen and send it to Lydia.

What the hell is this?!
He lives in Beacon, right?
Why would they think he's a werewolf?
