Chapter 2: The Choosing

NATSU POV

The teacher went through the room and he came next to me. I just looked at him and he waited for me to pull out a name. After like three minutes of just sitting there I sighed and picked a name. I put it on my desk but the teacher said we can't look at the name yet because he needs to explain the project. I just groaned I really hate Science class we always have projects and I always get paired up with some crazy chick who is obsessed with me.

"Ok class this project is about making the earth a cleaner place so you and your other two partners will figure out how to clean earth up" the teacher said

Most of the class started moaning including me and I looked around the room and saw some girls looking at me I just mentally rolled my eyes then I spotted Lucy staring out the window. She looked like she was in deep thoughts. Lucy was staring out the window for a while and I kept watching her then she turned around and looked at me and I quickly looked away and blushed a little bit.

After Mr. Macao was finished talking about the project he told everyone to turn over their papers. I heard groans and cheering but me on the other hand I didn't do anything, I didn't even turn over my paper yet because I really don't care for this project or this class. I just sighed and put my head on my hands and closed my eyes. I felt like someone was watching me but I didn't bother looking because it was probably some girl that likes me.

"Um excuse me but-" the girl started but I started to cut her off

"I'm sorry but I'm not looking for a relationship now" I said annoyed while still not looking at the person. I was hoping they went away but they didn't

"Um. . . Ok? I guess but that isn't why I came here" the girl said quietly. Now I was kinda confused if the girl wasn't here to ask me out then why was she here. I opened one of my eyes to look at the girl. Then I opened the other one in shock she. . . . she. . . she goes here I never knew

"Is that you Raven?" I asked slowly and quietly

"Well that depends are you Natsu" she said playfully.

I got up from my seat and hugged Raven tightly and she just laughed lightly and hugged me back. I could feel the evil stares the Raven was getting so after a little bit more of hugging I let go. Raven and I have been like the best of friends when we were younger. Raven had long black hair that fell to her waist and she had blue eyes. She also had a beauty mark under her left eye. I sat back down in my seat.

"So what are you doing here I thought you moved to the U.S.A" I said

"Well yea I did but my parents for really busy and so they said I had to move here with my cousin and her uncle" Raven said

I wondered who here cousin was. As I was in thought Lucy came up to me and tapped me on my shoulder. I jumped in shock and looked up and blushed a little. Crap I hate that she can make me blush so easily I need to control myself.

LUCY POV

I was at my desk I wasn't really paying attention to what the teacher was saying but I kind heard bits and pieces of it. As I was staring out the window I felt like someone was looking at me. I turned around and sure enough I was right Natsu was staring straight at me. I was about to smile and wave but before I could Natsu turned around. What is up with him it is like he doesn't like me anymore I wonder what I did wrong.

I felt hurt I really like Natsu's friendship I just hope it isn't over. Maybe I should ask him I was about to get up when the teacher came to my desk with a hat and told me to pick two names. I did as so and pick two names I was about to look at the names when the teacher said don't until he explains what the project is. I sigh and start looking out the window again and I saw a mother bird in her nest and when I looked closer I see that she is teaching her hatchlings how to fly. I smiled then slowly my smile started fading into a frown then I felt tears falling down my face until I realized I was crying but silently.

My friend Cana who was sitting in front of me looked back at me with a worried look and I quickly wiped my tears back and told her I was fine. She gave me a look that told me that she didn't believe me but I smiled and assured her I was fine. She gave me one last look and turned back around after the teacher finished talking he said we could turn our papers over and get with our partners. I turned my paper over and I smiled I got Natsu as a partner and also a girl named Raven she must be new to our class because I knew everyone in this class. I looked over at Natsu and he was hugging some girl I just sat there and watched and after a long time they finally stopped hugging each other and started talking. I want to go over there but I didn't want to interrupt there conversation so I just waited there while I watched everyone in the class get into their three partner groups.

After about five minutes of just sitting there I saw Natsu sit back down in his seat and he looked like he was thinking of something. I got up and walked over to him I guess he wasn't paying attention because I tapped him on his shoulder and he jumped. I swear I saw him blush it was kinda cute. I giggled a little bit.

"Sorry for interrupting your conversation" I said apologetically

"No,no it's ok I was just about to leave and find my partners" the girl Natsu was talking to said. I looked at her and she was beautiful. She turned around and walked away then she turned around and ran back to us.

"Oh I feel so rude right now I never introduced myself, My name is Raven" she said

"So your Raven your my partner along with Natsu" I laughed

"Ahem I am still here if you guys haven't noticed" Natsu said annoyed

"Oh yea I totally forgot, it was like you were totally invisible" Raven said and I laughed

"Well I think we should get started on our project don't you guys think" I said and we started our project.

AFTER SCHOOL IS OVER

"Thanks for walking me home at the last minute Natsu I am sorry I made you walk this far" I said to Natsu apologetically

"Hey it's no problem and plus my house isn't so far away from here" Natsu said

"Are you sure" I asked

"Yea anyways I got to go home now" Natsu said as he walked away

"Ok see you on the game show on Saturday don't be late ok!" I yelled oh I hope he isn't late like always and I hope he brings a date. Even if he didn't I would bring someone for him and it was someone he knew well.
