               Chapter Four

I received my class schedule after I was given a long lecture on dress code and how I must follow it and wear the proper uniform. Then I headed to the book room where once again I was lectured on dress code. It wasn't until I was done that I decided to look at my schedule, and that was a bad idea because I didn't know where any classes were.  The first class I had was, unfortunately for me, English. I sighed and walked down the hallway, looking for room 110.

When the bell rung, I knew I was going to be late. I cursed under my breath and speed walked aimlessly down the hall checking the little signs for numbers.

104...

107...

110! Bingo! I swung open the door and entered the classroom. Lots of heads turned in my direction and the class fell silent. The teacher paused in his sentence and looked at whoever interrupted his class, which was me.

"I'm new. The name is Zoe," I said, handing him my schedule. He looked at it and nodded before handing it back.

"Have a seat next to Vincent," the teacher pointed at a familiar kid who smiled and waved at me. I groaned and plopped down in the seat beside him.

Does life hate me?

During class, Vincent tried getting my attention by throwing paper balls at me and tapping his desk. I gripped my pencil so hard that it almost snapped in two.

"Hey Zoe," Vincent whispered.

"What the fuck do you want?" I growled, glaring at him. He was annoying the shit out of me and I was close to dropkicking him in the throat... with a lightsaber.

"You mind sitting with us at lunch?" he asked.

I thought about it for a moment before shaking my head. "No."

He gave me a look of disbelief. "What do you mean no?"

"Just like I said, no," I smirked as he stared at me throughout the rest of the class.

Almost every class of mine was with Vince. The only morning class that didn't involve him was art. Was I any good at art? No, but it was easy and doodling for 45 minutes was something I could never complain about. Currently, I was in math, aka the worst thing to ever have been made in human history.

Waiting for my teacher to end the the-bell-does-not-dismiss-you-I-do speech, I packed my stuff, not caring about his little rant.

I could feel Vincent's eyes watching me with every movement so I quickly wrote a little note and used my gum to stick it to the bottom of my shoe, so that the next time I bent down to pick up my bag I could lift up my heel and a neatly written but bold "Fuck off." would be in clear view.

When the teacher finally finished his pointless speech, I quickly dashed from the room, eager to get away. I was happy to get some lunch and then sleep during my last free period of the day, but then I realized that I had to do cheerleading practice after school and that completely ruined my lunch high.

Groaning, I went to my locker and put my things inside before slamming it shut. I hate cheer.

The only reason I took it when I was younger was because I was girlie then. I remember asking my dad for a pink Volkswagen Beetle. Shuddering at the thought of having to drive one of those, I walked through the halls and headed to where I'm 2.5% positive the cafeteria was.

I entered, and most people turned to look at me as I walked to the lunch line. I ignored the stares and got my food before finding an empty table to sit at. I sat down and began munching on my food.
