Tick Tock: One Wish

Chapter 1 ~

"Hayley! Are you ready? We're leaving in 5 minutes!" I hear my mom. I quickly grabbed my bag then rushed outside. Today, my family was going to the Annual Carnival. I closed the car door and off we go.

As we arrive, there were tons of people,  there is barely enough space for a path. We lined up in the regisration booth, which took half an hour. When we were done,  we split up into pairs. "Okay meet you all in 2 hours in the diner,  alright?" "Okay mom." Then we dispersed. I was with my older sister, Megan.  "Hayley, what do you want to do?" I look around. "Hmmmm, maybe that one!" I say while pointing at the ring toss. "Hmmmm, okay." "Yes!" I grab my sister's hand and ran to the ring toss. I was always good at this, not to brag. We arrived at the right time, there was no line. A young woman appeared. As soon as she smiled at me and my sister, I knew she was bubbly. "Hey girls! Would you like to play!" We both nod. "Alright. I'll give you 10 rings. If at least five rings go in the stand, you win this!" Suddenly, she brings out a large unicorn with multicolored hair. My eyes lit up. I didn't like unicorns, I LOVED them. As soon as I got the rings, I knew I needed to win. I stared at the posts, then checked my watch. OMG! It's 11:11! I wished for me to win this game. And soon enough, it payed off. First ring, shoot!  Second ring,  almost!  The third, fourth, and fifth rings got in, while the sixth ring didn't.  "C'mon girls! One more!"I breathed deeply. You can do this Hayley. Just one more. My seventh shot felt like it was slow motion. As I threw it, it was already going for the single center post.  It bumped into the post, a little wriggly, then BOOM! It went in! I hugged my sister, then turned back to the lady. "Here! Thank you for playing!" I waved goodbye. 11:11, you never let me down! I thought to myself. Soon, I was walking with my sister. "Hayley, what do you want to do next?" "How about you pick?" "Okay then...I choose that one!" She points to DARK ABBYS.  It's one of the rollercoasters in the carnival.  I gulp. "Are you sure?" "Yeah! C'mon!" To be honest,  I was really, really nervous.  This is only my third time to ride a rollercoaster! The last one I rode, wasn't....pleasant. But soon enough, we're in line for the rollercoaster. 10 minutes later, we're in the ticket booth. "Tickets please. " The clerk says. We hand him the tickets then the gate automatically opens in front of us. We step forward and immediately get in our seats. I squeeze my sister's hand tight. "What? Are you scared?" "What do you think? Last time I rode one of these I--you know what happened." She didn't answer. As soon as we stopped arguing it started.

We slowly approached a pitch black tunnel, so dark I can barely see my sister.  As soon as the whole cart is submerged into darkness, a BOOM! of thunder was heard. Then a voice follows. "Welcome to the Dark Abyss. In a few seconds you will witness thrills that will make your stomach turn around. Enjoy. " Then an evil laugh follows. I already feel the tears in my eyes. I know I'm 12 but, I'm really scared. I literally can't see anything.

Then,  I hear the loud boom of thunder again. That's when the thrills started.

We went down a really steep ramp. The people around me were screaming anywhere. I was screaming too. After that, we get turned to the side, and I can feel goosebumps all around my body. Then, we get lifted up again, then we stop. "I hope your having fun." I hear the same voice again. Then we drop down. This time, I'm screaming at my loudest.

As we arrive at the bottom, I felt like I could just melt from my seat. Then the voice is back. "Now you have witnessed the beginning, welcome to the climax. And this time, you will be exposed. Hope to see you soon." Then a creaking black gate opens. We're outside of the tunnel, where everyone can see.

We got alot of drops and turns. But one obstacle really scared the living daylight out of me--the loop.

As we were approaching the loop, I wanted to back out. But I can't, it's too late.

Soon we are turned upside down,  even my sister looks scared. Then finally, we reached flat ground--well, that's what I thought. We were slowly ascending towards the last drop. My heart was beating so fast. I wasn't that scared anymore, it's just that the shock the loop gave was still in me. We did our last drop, then the ride was done.

Megan looked green, but she didn't throw up. My nose was red because of crying. And soon, we went to the Diner. My parents were already there, but Connor and Josh weren't. We sat with them. "What happened to you girls?" My mom says. "We rode the Dark Abbys." I say. "Oh! Are you alright!" "Not so much." Megan says."Well, you two rest, I'll get food." We both nod. Then,  Connor and Josh arrive as we start eating lunch.
