He had forgotten her,

midst laughter that wasn't strained,

voices that weren't jarring,

and people who didn't mean nothing.

And that was okay,

It was okay because,

someday,

he'd see another smile,

that would haunt him,

in his dreams.

He'd hear another laugh,

that would make him,

desperate to hear it once more.

He would find love,

once,

twice,

a thousand times,

only to be left,

broken,

again,

and again,

and again.

And that was okay.

For,

the sins he had done,

in his youth,

his cold,

bitter,

heart,

did not deserve,

a forever,

till he lived,

every bit of pain,

that she did.
