Great just perfect fired from another job already. I'm usually good at keeping a job but lately I haven't been able to focus on anything. Things have been really stressful lately. I just need a job that's going to interest me. Not some dumb retail job. I am aware I have no qualifications for anything else seeing as I am 19 year old business major. If I am being honest I've never really thought business was great but it pays and can be somewhat interesting. Right? That's what I tell myself anyways.
.-Two awful weeks later-
It's been two weeks and I still haven't found a job I like. They have openings everywhere but with my recent job loss..ahem not me yelling at a rude customer and getting fired. No one seems to be interested. There is an opening at Styles co. some kind of stock business? Im not really sure I also know nothing about stocks. However business is good but I assume I am so underqualified for that position it's not funny. I mean I guess it's worth a shot and I'm close enough I can walk no need to wait for the train. This area is actually pretty nice. It has a very nice towny feeling to it like the gilmore girls kind of town. It's such a shame they put the building in the middle of it all. It kinda ruins the whole area. Love how I am already critiquing my possible new job. I walk up the stairs to the large building and enter through the glass doors. As I make my way up to the lobby desk my feet squeaking every step I take making me feel extremely self conscious. I stand in front of a woman who in my opinion is semi scary looking. She has her brown hair pinned up high, wearing a very nice suit, sitting in her chair with perfect posture. Paying no attention to anything but what is in front of her on the computer screen.
"Excuse me."
"Oh uhh yes is there something you'd like." She remarks as she looks me up and down my quite casual attire. Everyone in this building is wearing a suit and here I am in jeans and a t-shirt. I stood out like a sore thumb love that for me. How immature.
"Well I was wondering about the job position you guys had online?"
"Go sit over there." Wow. Rude much. I guess I just have to wait. The job description was very vague. Practically not a job description at all. Styles co. hiring now. So I thought maybe it was a simple job I could do. It would lead me down the right path at least. After a few minutes of waiting I heard crying so I diverted my eyes from my phone to the source of the sound. I look up to see a woman around my age carrying a box sobbing. I guess she just got fired. Who ever she was working for must be incredibly mean probably the same person I would be working for. Hopefully she's just dramatic and they are not mean. I hope.. I then divert my eyes to the phone which was ringing on the lobbyist desk. I tried to listen to the conversation but failed miserably only catching a few words here and there. She looked at me and seemed sorta disappointed but continued on her conversation. Two minutes later she gestures that I come to her. Which I do however still feeling self conscious about the squeaking coming from my shoes and just my outfit in general. I make it back to the stern looking lady who's name I'm still not aware of.
"Miss."
"Yes."
"That position is available but you have to start now the boss needs you."
"Umm well sure yeah ok." The boss? Like THE boss. I didn't think I would be working directly for him.
"Ok it's on the 31st floor. Only office up there. Good luck you're going to need it. Now hurry up Mr.Styles doesn't like to wait."Well he doesn't sound pleasant I guess I better make my way up there fast. I make it up to the 31st floor. I hate being this high up I try not to look out of the window and instead approach a large wooden door with big bold letters that spell out Styles. This is not at all intimidating.. not even sorta. God help me I enter the room to find a tall man looking out at the window. Now not feeling so underdressed as he is only wearing casual clothing as well. Then again he's the boss so he can.
"Hello?"He turns on his feet swiftly looking me up and down like the lobbyist did. I guess he also notices how underdressed I am. Why was everyone in this building so damn scary.
"Hello I'm well you can call me Mr. Styles."
He sticks his hand out for me to shake which I accept.
"It's nice to meet you I'm Nina. Nina Smith."
"It's a pleasure to meet you Nina but we do have a meeting to attend."
"We?" Wow already. This job is gonna be easy I can tell..heh.
"Yes we. I'm going to need you to take notes. Are you smart enough to handle that?"
"Oh yeah no problem sir." Do I call him sir is that weird. Someone help me.
"Alright good let's go then."
We walk to the elevator and go to the 26th floor. He exits the elevator me following close behind making sure I don't get lost. We enter an office or boardroom. Which is surprisingly smaller than mr. Styles office. How is the meeting room smaller than his office. Why does he need so much space. We walk in and sit down in front of people dressed in suits like everyone else here. I really should have worn something else. At least me and Mr.Styles both are underdressed. Maybe they will think it's on purpose. Let's just see how this meeting goes. There are two men in front of us. One much older than the other. I'm assuming the older one is the boss as the other guys looks just as scared as me. The meeting begins and they start talking about boring business stuff that seems fair. So I stay quiet and continue to write until they make a deal/ Shake hands and the two men leave.
"So Nina tell me about yourself."
"Well I'm in college majoring with business degree. I moved out here 6 years ago the rest of my family lives in New York"
"Very nice well you did well during the meeting I suppose. I'll see you tomorrow darling."
"Oh great! One question though mr. styles."
"What is it Nina have to get home to my daughter." Daughter?? He didn't seem much older than me.
"Right I was just wondering if I had to wear a certain attire?"
"I don't know whatever is fine. Nothing ugly. Have a good night Nina."
"You too sir."
I pick up my personal items and turn off the lights and get into the elevator heading to the lobby. That woman is still there sitting at that desk. I guess she leaves after everyone else.
"Have a good night."
"You too Miss..."
"Emily call me Emily."
"Right, Goodnight Emily."
I walk out the doors realizing it is absolutely freezing and I forgot to bring a jacket. Good job. I start to head home walking down the street. By the time I get there I am shaking and dead tired. I walk in dump my stuff take off my shoes and fall in bed. What a lovely day. Honestly wasn't so bad at least I have a job. I didn't think I'd make rent.
