Harper's POV
As I awoke I noticed a few things about my cell. Firstly, it had a leak. Not necessarily a large leak which could flood the cell, but just enough to annoy. Drip. Drop. Drip. Drop. Secondly, the cell was constructed of stone walls with silver bars. And finally, I was alone. There were no nearby cells with prisoners. For once in my life, I felt truly alone.

I sat there watching the day slip by until I heard a noise. Footsteps. Of course in a castle, it's to be expected that people would be around, but for someone to travel down to an abandoned dungeon could only mean one of two things, either, A. They have come to rescue or release me, or B. They are coming to torture me. I thought that until I smelt them. It was multiple people, I just couldn't tell how many. Perhaps two or three. Their scents were earthly. All except one. His scent was extraordinary, almost addictive. In fact, it was addictive. He smelled of pine trees and peppermint. An odd combination, except for near the holidays. Adeline began to mumble something incoherent.

As they appeared from the stairwell, Adeline's mumbling raised in volume. I noticed one man was significantly taller than the others. His muscles were more defined. He had a business-like expression on his pale, freckled, face. His ebony hair sat comfortably across his forehead. A mix between messy and styled. But his eyes, his eyes, were an enchanting shade of emerald, bright like the sun, but weathered, implying he's seen his share of tragedy. All in all he was gorgeous. I try not to be superficial, but I just couldn't look away.

That's when I realized, the smell, it was him. I finally realized what my wolf had been trying to say. "Mate."
