ALEX stood in front of the pack as they all sat around Derek's loft. Rebekah stood by her side, observing the pack. And when Alex says pack, she means Derek Hale.
ex nudged her in the side and sent her a smirk. She sent one right back, and the youngest of the two chuckled, shaking her head at Rebekah.
Instead of leaving like Derek and Cora planned, they decided to stay back a little longer so that they could hear their story.
"Are you gonna explain or?" Derek rudely asked, crossing his arm stiffly over his chest.
"Yes." Alex nodded. "It's a long story. So you all might as well get comfy." She rose her eyebrows at Derek as he stubbornly stood there. "Okay, then..." She trailed off, then nodded. "Our parents had just started a family when a plague struck their homeland. They lost a child to it. They wanted to escape and protect their future family from the same fate."
"How?" Lydia questioned. "This part of the world wasn't discovered yet."
"Not by anyone in your history books," Alec retorted But our mother knew the witch Ayana, who heard from the spirits of a mystical land where everyone was healthy... Blessed by the gifts of speed and strength. That led my family here, where we lived amongst those people."
"Werewolves?" Cora questioned and the youngest blonde nodded, glancing around at everyone.
"To us, they were just our neighbors. Our family lived in peace with them for over 20 years, during which time my family had more children, including me and Rebekah." Alex glanced at my sister who smiled at her. "Once a month, our family retreated to the caves beneath our village. The wolves would howl through the night, and by morning, we'd return home."
She looked out the window, thinking about our village. "One full moon, Klaus and our youngest brother Henrik snuck out to watch the men turn into beasts. That was forbidden. Henrik paid the price." Rebekah grabbed her hand for comfort, knowing that Henrik and Alex were close thanks to being around the same age. "And that was the beginning of the end of peace with our neighbors. And one of the last moments my family had together as humans."
"So, this... thing was a form of protection?" Allison uttered out, seemingly to not be afraid of them. Other than her, Derek and Cora, everyone else seemed afraid.
"Yes." Alex nodded. "Our parents saw a way of keeping their children alive."
"Yeah, but why stay?" Derek questioned, his brooding face on.
