Kang Daniel

It was a few days later that the whole clique met up to 'put the flyers everywhere' like Jaehwan had called it.

Before heading out, Sungwoon had already plastered the whole front of Rickies door with the pictures, Daniel and his brothers faces looking at them from various directions. Daniel thought it was creepy, but Sungwoon seemed so enthusiastic that he didn't say anything.

"We're gonna find him!", the boy said with a bright smile, patting Daniel on the shoulder.

He smiled sincere, actually pretty touched by the other.

They went around the city for hours, not leaving a single door uncovered. At one time Daniel thought they'd be out of flyers soon but Sungwoon magically bought a second backpack full of the pictures and their mission continued.

As Daniel stared at the plastered wall near a police station he wondered how many of these other missing kids would be found in the future. It was scary how many pictures of lost children were staring back at them from the board in each police station they went to.

And he wondered how their parents handled it. Wasn't it selfish to put Daniels flyers up? All those kids wanted to be found and maybe they weren't as save or happy as Daniel.

He didn't have a bad life. Sure, he wanted to find his brother, he missed having a family that he really was related to by blood but at least Daniel had his friends and a place to stay. Not everyone was as lucky.

„Hyung", the small voice of Bae Jinyoung interrupted Daniels thoughts, „are you alright? You look troubled."

Daniel put on a smile, looking at the worried face of his friend. „Just thinking. It's a bit overwhelming."

He made a gesture towards the board with all the flyers. Sungwoon and Jaehwan were currently standing in front of it, debating whether Daniel's flyer should be hung up on the right or left side.

„They are a bit overwhelming as well I guess", Jinyoung chuckled, „should I make Sungwoon stop? I'm sure he'd understand."

Daniel shook his head. „No. It's alright. He made so much effort."

The blond was too distracted by his thoughts and his conversation with Jinyoung that he didn't notice the flyer his friends just covered with their own one.

Maybe, if he had seen it, he had known who exactly put it up only a few hours ago.

Daniel had the afternoon shift at the convenience store the day after, not really looking forward to spent the rest of the day there.

With the thought of why he had to clean at all his workplaces in mind, Daniel put his earphones in, swinging the wet mop around the floor.

He could see Jihoon in his mind, the way the boy held his fists up, covering his face. Daniel tried to copy his moves, holding the mop with one hand.

People from outside the shop would laugh at him through the big glass windows, but Daniel ignored them. He continued to throw his fists against nothing, a smile on his face.

Later that night Daniel decided to visit his ‚baby'.

He stopped at the motorcycle shop on his way home, pressing his nose against the cold glass, admiring the beautiful blue bike that stood behind it.

„Hey there", he smiled.

His breath made the glass fogged, leaving a circle where his nose had been.

Daniel fished for his phone in his front pocket, turning around to make a selfie of himself with the motorcycle. He'd sell his soul for a bike like that.

„Only a few more shifts", he whispered. The endless hours of working would finally pay off.

Still with a big grin, he finally made his way home.
