The silence that followed was uncomfortable. From the look on her face, Ana knew Rose wasn't going to go along with the magic plan. Since no one else was with the mage woman they had to come up with another plan.

"How accurate are your maps?" She asked lord Arrapha.

Shrugging, he flipped his hair back, revealing the purple streak running through the strands from his left temple. Seeing it, she wondered why a man, who looked like a warrior, would dye his hair purple. "As any other map," was his offhand answer. He'd been quiet ever since she had asked him to land when Rose had called, his eyes calm and watchful. "They depict the desired landscapes well enough."

If she hadn't been watching him closely as the others had argued, Ana would have bought the dismissive way he said that. He seemed to wear a mask of indifferent cheerfulness, which made her wonder if he was like that with everyone or if he was wearing it for these people. Did that mean he didn't trust them? That she had more reasons to worry for her friends?

"I need something better than good enough, I need a map correct to within an inch." She told him, deciding to leave tying to figure him out for later. He raised an eyebrow at her, back to his earlier arrogance. Why was she attracted to him again? Oh that's right, her poor taste in men. "Well, if your society is like Rose said then your cartography wouldn't be very accurate, I'm hoping you use magic to make them." She gave him a questioning look.

"Yes, there are magical maps, but their functions are specific and would be useless for other things."

"Huh?" Her brow knitted in her confusion.

He gave her a smile, smooth, beautiful, absolutely perfect. His teeth were pure white, flawless, full lips forming a perfect curve. Whatever he said, she didn't hear a word as she watched the way he formed them, so enchanting. His lips were so mobile, molding his words like they were precious jewels.

What the hell was wrong with her? "Sorry, I didn't get that." She hoped he hadn't seen her space out while oggling him like he was a piece of juicy steak and she a hungry wolf. She didn't even like steak.

He gave her an accommodating nod, his face still holding his affiable mask, at least she thought of it as one. "We have a hunter's map, which portrays the map of the area one's prey is walking through but not necessarily how to get there. A searching map, which is used to find artefacts of magic and only shows the road you're on and the next path to the artifact. A traveller's map, enchanted to show the lay of the land one is passing through, then...."

"I get it, useless for what we need."

"What use would a map be anyhow? We have little idea of where your friend is and the world is a big place."

Ana held up the screen to Jaiya, now showing two blinking lights on a grid. "This shows the spatial distance between Jaiya and I, since there isn't any data on this world's geography. If we overlay an accurate map, we can pinpoint her exact location."
