Miraculous Ladybug Reveal: Volpina

Chapter 1: It's Just An Illusion

"Give me your Miraculous, or I drop him!" Volpina called, dangling Adrien off the Eiffel Tower. She slowly peeled one finger off the boy, then another... Then another... Until she was barely holding on.
"Help!" Adrien shouted. "Please, do something!"
Volpina grinned as Ladybug gave a defeated sigh.
"Fine! Just don't hurt him!" Ladybug called to the villain. She pulled the earrings out of her ears, detransforming in front of everyone.
"Mari?" Chat whispered. She immediately grabbed the sides of the tower and perched on a bolt as she flung them up to Volpina who snatched them up greedily.
"Oopsie!" The wannabe hero called with a sinister smile, releasing her grip on the model and dropping Adrien off the tower. "Nice doing business with you, Ladybug!"
"NO!" Marinette cried desperately as Adrien flew by. She reached her hand out to his as he mirrored the action, but she was an inch too far away. "Volpina. WILL. PAY!" She screeched in a voice unlike anything the real Adrien had ever heard before. She scrambled up the tower furiously, as if she was weightless. Chat climbed after her, but her adrenaline quickly became too much for him to keep up. Marinette jumped onto the platform where Volpina had leapt. "Nice to see you, MARINETTE." A sinister voice behind her snarled. Before she could turn around, Volpina grabbed onto the back of her shirt and held her off the tower, dangling face first towards the ground.
Chat Noir, upon reaching the platform, went pale. His lady was in danger and he was frozen. His fear was quickly replaced with anger as he shouted,
"Cataclysm!" While running towards Volpina. Blinded by his fury, he darted at her, as though he was an angry bull and Volpina was the Matador.
"You wouldn't want to hurt her, would you?" Volpina giggled, holding Marinette in between herself and Chat, all the while the bluenette was struggling to break free. Chat skidded to a stop, his hand mere inches from Marinette's face.
"Oopsie!" Volpina laughed, shoving Marinette into Chat's hand.
Chat Noir watched as she disintegrated into a pile of ash, with nothing left behind.
"No..." His voice broke. "Mari... I never got to tell you how I feel... Or show you who I am... I'm sorry... For everything."
Chat Noir began to stand up, choking back tears as he continued to mumble to himself. "I couldn't protect you. From me. I'm sorry, Mari... I'll stop her, even if it's the last thing I do."
He immediately swung at the fake heroine with his staff, catching her off guard.
"So the kitty's recovered." She remarked sarcastically, whipping out her flute. A quick whistle from it, and images of Marinette and Ladybug surrounded Chat Noir. Marinette with Adrien, Alya, and Nino. Ladybug denying his flirting. Marinette blushing around Adrien.
"You killed her. This girl." Volpina's voice boomed as the images circled him.
"No!" He cried. "Stop it!"
"Admit it, Chat Noir! She's gone, because of you!" The fox screeched.
"No! It wasn't me! I'm sorry! I-" Chat began to sob.
"It was, you killed her! You're a murderer, Chat!" Volpina's voice echoed. "You didn't deserve her as a partner, and now she's gone. Because of y-"
Volpina froze mid-sentence. Chat Noir looked up to see Marinette holding Volpina's necklace in her hands.
"Mari...?" He sniffled, wiping away tears.
She stomped on the pendant, taking her earrings back and quickly transforming as Volpina returned to Lila. She caught and cleansed the butterfly, waving to it as it fluttered away.
"Ugh... Where am I?" Lila moaned, rubbing her head.
"The Eiffel Tower. It's a long story. You should probably head home, young girl." Ladybug advised.
As Lila exited the tower, Chat Noir ran to Ladybug, scooping her up in his arms and hugging her tightly.
"What happened? I saw you die!" He asked.
"It wasn't me, Chat. It never was. She had me chase a hologram to another landing and fought you down here. Once I figured out what was going on, I got down here and stopped her. I'm sorry."
"Never do that to me again!" Chat reprimanded. "I don't know what I would do if I lost you!"
Chat pulled away from
hugging Ladybug as his ring beeped his last beep.
"Go, Chat. I've had enough surprises for one day."
"I-" Chat said, a disappointed look flashing across his face before he sighed. "I wish I could stay..." He mumbled.
"But you can't. I can't know who you are. The fact that you know who I am is already too much. Go! Hurry!" Ladybug huffed.
The blonde planted a quick kiss on his partner's cheek before jumping away.
Ladybug's gaze followed him as he hopped from rooftop to rooftop, her cheek burning for his kiss.
"MARINETTE!" Alya's voice boomed, snapping her out of her trance.
'Oh god...' The heroine thought to herself. She sighed before turning around, ready to face her friend...
