I sit in a chair beside the bed my sweet boy is sleeping in, waiting for him to wake. He fell asleep the moment I put him to bed. He curled up under the covers all that was visible were his closed eyes right above the covers. I gently pushed his bangs off his forehead and he started to stir.

I sat back and watched as his eyes slowly opened and he scanned the room and finally his eyes landed on me. His face lights up in recognition as he struggled to get out of the covers and to the other side of the room. When he got into the corner of the room, he curled into himself on the floor. I slowly made my way over to him and crouched a few feet away.

"Hey, it's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you. You're safe here." I told him softly. He glanced at me then went back to scanning the room. Most likely looking for a way out. "Hey, can you look at me?" He continued to look around the room. "Come on, look at me, please." He continued to avoid my gaze. "Joseph. Look at me." I commanded. His eyes snapped to mine and you could clearly see the fear in his eyes. I inched closer as I talked to him. "I'm not going to hurt you. No one in this house will. This is the safest place for you on Earth." His eyes became hesitant as I came closer. "I know you're scared, but you don't have to be. I will keep you safe. I won't hurt you."

I was right in front of him now and he's still looking at me with those big hazel eyes. I slowly reached my hand out towards his face. "It's okay," I reassured him when I saw him starting to panic. He still was hesitant as my hand touched his forehead and moved his bangs out of his face. My hand then went down and gently cupped his cheek. "It's okay," I stated one last time and watched as he relaxed into my touch. The bond taking effect. "Are you hungry Joseph?" He looked at me with content eyes. He gave a small nod that made me smile. 'Such a shy bird.' I picked him up off the floor and made my way to the kitchen.

I ran through the forest. Trying to calm my anger before I made it home. I came to the end of the woods and saw the entrance of my neighborhood. I make my way down the sidewalk that leads to my street. I get to my front door and open the door. "Look, pasty legs is home." "She stayed out longer than usual. I'm suprised considering she's alergic to outside." My aunt and uncle started to make comments as soon as I walked into this hell. I sigh and walk to the fridge to grab a water.

"We have friends coming over. Go get ready and come back down." I went up the stairs to my room and opened my closet. I grabbed a different shirt and brushed my hair into a ponytail. I hear the door alarm and shake my head. I go down the stairs gradually and finally make my way to the living room. "Finally! Took you long enough! Get us a beer." I make my way to the outside fridge. I stand there and look at the sky. "Why me?" I whisper and grab the beer.

"You're still so uncomfortable around guys? You need to get over it. It wasn't that big of a deal. You're alive aren't you?" I stare down at the floor as I'm lectured by my aunt and uncle's friends about not 'letting loose' around them. 'I can't help how I feel. I can't help it left me broken.'

I wake up sore and raised my shirt. I sighed at the sight of bruises lining my sides. I got around slowly and finally made my way past the kitchen to the front door. I staggered the five minutes to school and leaned against a locker in the empty hallway.

Axle and I step out of my car and make our way into the building. Derek and Evan both stayed home with their chosen. We get to the main in door courtyard and I feel Axle nudge my shoulder. "I'm gonna go find my chosen. I'll catch up with you later."

I make my way through the hallways and follow the bond as it bring me closer to my kitten. I turn a corner and see her leaning against a locker. She's probing at her side. Her teeth clenched as she hisses in pain every once in a while. I make my way towards her and grasp her arm gently.

"Hey what's wrong? What happened?" I look down at her with concern. She shakes her head and looks away. "N-nothing." I look to her side and slowly put my hand on the hem of her shirt. "W-what are you-" "Shh, it's okay. I'm not gonna hurt you." I whisper as I move her shirt up slowly and gently. My breathing hitches as I see shades of red, blue, and purple spread across her sides.

"Alexis. What happened?" I say tensley try to control my anger. "Um. I fell?" "Is that a question." "N-no I fell." "The bruises wouldn't be shaped like this or this separated. These are fist marks." She starts to fidget and stutter. "W-well I u-um. You s-see. I k-ind of. W-what happened w-was-" I cut her off by cupping her face in my hands. "Shh, breath sweetheart. Calm down. You're okay now." I reassure quietly as she calms down.

"Where did you get these from?" "No-" "Don't lie to me." She sighs and looks down. "My house." "From who?" "Usually friends of my aunt and uncle. Sometimes them." She whispers quietly. "Where's your parents during all of this?" "My mom works late. My dad's dead." I sigh and pull her to me.

Axle. He replied back almost instantly. "Yeah?" We have a problem. "What happened?" I can't let Alexis go home today. "Why? Is she okay?" She's fine but where she lives is not. I'll talk more about it when we're all together. So, would you like to shorten that date? "Hell yeah. This boy need to learn some respect." Alright, don't punish him too early though. You'll scare him more than he already will be. "I know. I know." Okay. I'll tell Evan.

"Hey sweetheart. How about we go out to the bleachers for a minute to get some fresh air yeah?" She thinks for a minute then slowly nods her head. I lead her out to the bleachers and we sit down. "I have to call someone real quick okay? I'll be right over there." I get up and walk away a bit and dialed Evan.

"Hello?" "Hey Evan it's me." "Hey Colin, what's up? Aren't you in school?" "Yeah, look. Things happened and instead of certain events happening tomorrow they're happening today. Axle and I need you at the front of the school soon." "Okay. What happened?" It'll be explained later. Just get here." Alright. Let me get Joseph to go to sleep or at least stay in the room." "How's he doing by the way?" "Better than expected thankfully. Shy though. But I don't mind." "I'm sure you don't. See you soon."

I hang up before he can question me and go back over to my kitten. "I have advil in my bag. You want some?" She nods her head and I smile softly. "Alright my bag is in my car, come on." I grab her bag and we start heading to the front.
