Chapter 7: Realization
Jack left Yui's room and wet downstairs, getting in his car as he took off. Ever since that incident with what happened to her, Yui has been looking better. The white of her eye was now just a bit of pink and the bruising around it black and blue, still a bit tender to the touch.
All and all Yui was looking like she was waking up nicely, from what he could see at least. However, al though she may be healing externally, she didn't seem to be healing internally and that's when Jack decided that he would get Yui something to help cheer her up, or at least try and cheer her up.
He drove into the city and stopped at a pet shop. He saw a sign on the door that read "Kittens Half-Off, Ready To Go." Jack then thought for a moment as grinned to himself as he got out of the car, going inside.
He looked around and found the teller as he approached him.
"Well hello there! Anything you're looking for in particular?" The man asked.
"I'm looking for something small, but will be able to keep a friend company when they're alone." Jack said.
The teller smiled. "I've got just the thing. Follow me."
Jack followed the man to a cage on the floor. The teller opened it as two little kittens dashed out, attacking Jack as they meowed playfully. The blonde laughed as they jumped all over him until he finally got a hold of them.
"They're a little hyper if you ask me." Jack laughed.
"They're the only two left, you can pick one."
Jack looked at the two small creatures in his large hands. The one on the right was full on jet black, a white symbol shaped like a lightning bolt on its left side. The one in his left hand was pure white with a black symbols shaped like a heart on its right side. Jack smiled at the two little creatures as they stared back at him with beady little eyes.
He looked up at the teller. "I'll take them both." He said.
"All right then. The black one is a boy and the white is a girl. Take them over here and I'll put them in a crate for you."
After Jack paid for the two little kittens, he said his goodbye to the teller and took the crate. Jack did the shopping he had to then returned to his manor, setting up the littlest arching toy he got for the kittens and setting the crate down on the floor. He eat each kittens head before closing the crate, going over to the stairs.
"Yui! Come down here! I have something for you!" He called.
Yui's head lifted up as she looked at the door, getting to her feet. She fixed her clothes and made herself look normal as she opened the door, going down the stairs.
"What do you need, Jack?" She asked.
When the blackette got to the bottom of the steps, she saw Jack by an animal crate as she gave him a questionable look.
"What's this?" She asked, pointing to the crate.
"It's for you so you won't be so lonely when I have to go do something. Open it." Jack smiled.
Yui stood there for a moment before going over to the crate. She kneeled down and opened the crate, two little black and white creatures darting out and climbing on her.
"What the--!?" She gasped.
Yui fell onto her rear as the creatures stopped, the girl looking down to see two little kittens on her. She lifted her hands and picked them up in her hands, looking up at Jack.
"Kittens?"
"Yeah, I got them for you."
Yui looked back at the kittens, a small smile tugging at her lips as she stood, going over to the couch as she sat down, the kittens playing in her lap. Jack went over to her and leaned over the back, staring down at them.
"One is black and the other is white... Contrast in colors, but yet similar in behavior and attitude..." Yui said.
"They don't have names yet and I wanted to wait until I gave them to you so you could name them."
Yui reached down and took a squirming creature in each hand, looking at them both.
"The black one will be named Yami, meaning dark and the white one...the with one will he named...Hikari, meaning light. Hikari and Yami, light and dark..."
"It suits them perfectly..." Jack said. "I'm going to go put everything away, you go ahead and play with the kittens.
The white kitten, Hikari, meowed, putting its paws up to reach for Yui. The blackette lifted Hikari on his hand as she tapped her cheek with her paw, rubbing her head against the girl's cheek before licking it with her small tongue.
The black kitten, Yami, hopped off Yui's hand, into her lap as he climbed up her chest and onto her shoulder as her rubbed his head in the crevasse of her neck.
Yui giggled as each kitten rubbed it head against her, their fur tickling her skin.
"You two are so cute... Do you wanna make me laugh because I'm hurt, is that it?" Both kittens meowed. "I'll take that as a yes... At least you're trying..."
The blackette looked over to the blonde, a smile on her face."thank you for getting these for me, Jack... They're wonderful..."
Jack smiled at her. "Its the least I could do after what you've been through..."
"Well, it's the best thing anyone could've ever done for me, thank you so much..."
"It's what I'm here for." Jack said as Yui continued to play with the wild kittens.
