Here you can choose what breed of horse or pony you want and and their coat.
* Keep in mind that out of all of the starting coats given, the coat at the bottom is the most rare. Not only does this give future foals a good bloodline/pedigree but, an informed player will most likely pay more for a rarer coat than a common coat. (Read: More Cha-Ching For You)*
For example, for the breed shown in the above picture, the standardbred, the dapple grey coat is the most rare out of the given options.
Different horse/pony breeds have different strengths and weaknesses. They also have specific 'allowed coats'. Meaning, while one horse breed may be allowed to have a dapple grey coat another, may not be allowed to have the dapple grey coat. Howrse provides statistics for each horse breed:
