My eyes snap open to the sound of pounding on my door. I groan sitting up on my hard, cold bed as someone opens the door.
"Get up." the warden says sternly. I do as he says rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. The concrete floor is cold as usual. What a pain. "Get your ass moving and meet me downstairs. We need to talk." He says before stepping out and slamming my bedroom door. Great...
I groan once more before getting dressed. I put on my black ripped jeans, a black tank top, and black combat boots. Lots of black I know, but that's our typical uniform- without the holes of course. I made those myself.
When I look at myself in the mirror, I let out a sigh seeing the horrific rats nest on my head. I grab my brush and carefully untangle my hair until it's back to the semi-decent, curly, dark red, almost black, hair that I know and love. I play with my hair a bit before walking into the bathroom to brush my teeth.
I finally finish up and head down stairs, locking my door before I leave. I reach the stairwell when a voice calls out to me.
"Amber!" I look over to see Talo. He's a boy with blond hair and teal eyes.
"Hey Talo." I say, "Where is Asahi?" He shrugs.
"I'm not sure, but have you seen my brother? He wasn't in the room." He asks. I shake my head no.
"No, maybe he's down stairs in the mess hall already?" I suggest.
"Maybe." He tells me, his voice uneven.
"Well, I have to go now. I think I'm in some trouble..." I say. Talo laughs.
"Ok, then I'll let you go then." He rushes ahead of me and down the stairwell. I let out a quick sigh preparing myself for the wrath of the warden.
I take a deep breath and continue my journey to the mess hall. As I enter someone calls out to me in an angry voice,
"Amber. Get over here." I look over to where the voice came from, and of course it came from my evil, blond haired, stuck up, and pissy warden; Axel. I slowly walk over to him.
He seems more pissed than usual. Guess I really am in trouble.
"What did I do this time?" I say in a sarcastic tone as I put a hand on my hip. He glares at me with his dark green eyes.
Well he's obviously not having any of that today.
I let out a sigh.
"You did enough to make the top dog notice you. I'm here to take you to his office." He says with a cold tone. I raise an eyebrow.
"Is that so? Man, I must have done something bad to get that stubborn old geezer to notice me!" I say laughing a bit after. Axel just glares at me. He waves for me to follow him as he turns around and starts walking quickly away. I struggle to keep up with his fast pace.
Slow down! I'm only like 5'6 and you're like 6'10! Okay maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit. More like a lot. He's not that tall but he is intimidating enough to make it seem like he is.
As I'm lost in thought I don't realize that Axel stops in front of me and I run right into his back. My hands fly up to my nose to make sure it wasn't broken.
"Ow! What the hell are you made of metal or something?!" I ask looking up at Axel. He looks at me from behind his back with a straight face. Wait one second! Was that a hint of amusement in his eye? If it is I better run.
"We are here. Refrain from using that kind of language in front of him, I don't need my reputation to be ruined because you told him to go fuck himself." He says coolly. Did he just make a joke? I make a face at him and nod. "Good." He says before he turns and enters the next room. I follow close behind him.
