Maybe you'll call her generic,
A girl who scars her skin,
A girl who starves herself
Just so she can fit in.
But when you see why,
Maybe you'll be able to understand her cries.
Striving for perfection,
What does that even mean?
She stands before a mirror,
Searching for a sign,
As to why it is she feels this way,
And searching for a new excuse to skip dinner,
'I'm not hungry' she says as her stomach growls.
But she swears she'll never eat again.
In this house, filled with
Violent mothers, Cheating fathers,
Leaving lovers. Angry brothers,
Starving daughters,
Starving daughters,
Worried lovers.
When she stumbles and falls,
She shows no mercy,
She runs in the sun,
Skips in the cold.
It has been so long since she didn't think this way.
