A better way things go when Mike and Eleven see each other again.
Mike was happy. So immensely happy. Eleven was back. His Eleven. And he couldn't be happier. She would help them. Things would go back to normal. But for now, just for tonight, they wouldn't let what was to come get in the way of finally seeing each other again. After 353 days.
The two children were sat in a room alone, not that anyone wanted to leave them alone but they had momma Steve guarding outside the door in case anything bad (or good ;)) were to happen.
Mike and El sat close together, hands clasped tightly, and were in a comfortable silence. Until Mike decided to speak up "I missed you...so much..." Something both of them knew but Mike couldn't say it enough "I know..." El's response was also something both of them knew. It was as if they couldn't get enough of those same words.
Mike hated himself for not being able to stop El. And he was mad at himself. He took out a lot of his anger and frustration on his friends, especially Max, while El had been gone. Now she was back, though, and things would be better.
Eleven looked up at Mike, pulling him into a tight hug. Mike instantly hugged back. This was good. This was warm and good and safe. They were safe now. Together. Safe. For now.
They both knew what had to be done tomorrow. Only a few hours away. And so they decided to stay together until it was time to do what they needed to do.
They sat for a solid few minutes just sitting in each other's embrace. Mike breathed in deeply, holding onto Eleven as if she would disappear if he let go. Which she just might, considering all the bull they had been put through.
They eventually broke away and looked at each other. Just looked. They both felt happy to be together again. It was nice.
They were both tired. It had been a long couple of days. They laid down, cuddled close together. They felt safer with each other there. Eventually Mike drifted off to sleep but Eleven stayed awake, watching over Mike and keeping him safe.
--Time Skip--
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. That's what woke Mike up and what had Eleven alert and ready. They both stared at the door, their gazes flicking from the door to each other.
The two kids said in unision "Who is it?" A moment or two passed before Steve poked his head. He looked between the two before laughing and saying "Sorry to break you two up, lovebirds. But it's time"
Mike and Eleven deflated. Mike looked at Eleven. Eleven looked back. They both stood up and hugged again. Mike looked at Eleven sadly, not wanting to leave her side but knowing for the plan to work he'd have to.
They walked put of the room, hand in hand with Steve following. Everyone else was already out there. Hopper had been the least willing to allow Mike and Eleven alone time and so he was right by her side when she came out.
"Ready, kid?" Hopper asked. Eleven looked at Mike and Mike pressed a light kiss to her cheek. He gave a sad smile and his final words to Eleven before she went off on a possible suicide mission were "Go save the world"
I hope you all enjoyed this shitty masterpiece. I'm ignoring pretty much everything that actually happens in the last few episodes and making this it instead so pls don't yell at me
