today was off to a good start for yoongi. he woke up feeling good, he got ready and looked extremely good by his standards, and he went out to a good restaurant for breakfast. one of yoongi's favorite things to do is think alone in the mornings. when he actually decides to wake up in the morning rather than late in the day, he feels awake and usually feels inspired, causing him to be able to think about whatever he wants to.
today was different than most. yoongi decided not to think about really anything and to instead enjoy his morning. he sat back in the booth at the diner he was at and sighed. even though it was nearly winter and extremely cold outside, the sun shining on everything presented a faux-spring look. there were no clouds to be seen in the sky and it was surprising to yoongi because it had rained continuously for the past week and a half until today. yoongi closed his eyes, listening to the sound of people in the diner talking, their voices fading away and blending together. he snapped back into reality as soon as he heard a familiar voice speaking, becoming louder as they walked through the door.
"oh my. i look FABULOUS today. i am just beautiful." the voice said.
yoongi chuckled and waved at the man nearing him, his gummy smile plastered on his face. the man waved back and said, "yoongi-yah! fancy seeing you here! who would have thought."
"come sit down hyung, there's plenty of room here." yoongi said cheerfully. the man took a seat next to the younger and sighed. "hello jin-hyung. how are you doing today?"
jin warmly smiled at yoongi and said, "i'm doing just fine, and you?" "i'm doing very good myself. i just came here to think this morning but now that you're here that's obviously off the table. but that's okay, it's always good to see you hyung. now that me and jimin are roommates, i usually only hang out with him and whoever he chooses. i don't really mind though, i still love jimin even if i have to be with him all the time."
realizing what he said, yoongi covered his mouth, "i-i didn't mean that i love jimin romantically i only love him as a friend!" jin laughed, "i know what you meant yoongi, and i didn't think anything of it when you said it." the younger blushed and looked down at his thighs.
"i do agree with what you said though yoongi-yah, we hardly ever see each other anymore. i feel like when, you know, hoseok..." jin trailed off.
after a few seconds of silence, jin behan again, "we just all went our own ways really. i mean i've stayed with namjoon for the past two years as you know, man i love namjoon, and you've been with jimin, but i haven't heard from tae in nearly 3 months and nothing from jungkook in almost a year."
yoongi raised an eyebrow, "jimin makes me go with him to hang out at parties with tae and jungkook really often. last i heard from them was actually last weekend at a party hosted by tae's cousin chaewon." he took a long breath, "now that i think about it, jungkook really hasn't been the same since hoseok. i mean it was obvious, the maknae really loved him. it was unfair for hoseok to just leave us like that, really. but what can you do?"
jin was about to say something when his phone started to ring. he pulled his phone out of his pocket and gasped dramatically, "i'm so sorry yoongi-yah, i really am, but I totally forgot that i only came here because namjoon needed me to get us breakfast to take back home! he's probably worried sick, this is him right now-" jin pointed at his phone and waved goodbye to yoongi as he walked towards the bakery area of the diner.
yoongi waved back before leaning back in the booth, resuming his thoughts that he had before jin interrupted.
the man looked up at the ceiling and let out a deep breath that he didn't know he was holding in, 'maybe i should get back to jimin.. he's probably worried that i'm hurt or something. i never told him that i was going out earlier this morning.'
yoongi paid for his meal at the front counter and left the restaurant, walking down the cold streets back to jimin and his shared apartment. checking his watch, yoongi realized how late it was, '1:30. i was talking to jin for way longer than i thought i was, wow.'
when yoongi got back to his apartment, he opened the door, expecting to see a worried jimin inside the main room. instead, when he came inside, he first saw nor heard any sign of the younger.
"jimin?" yoongi called out into the room. much to his dismay, there was no answer. taking off his jacket, yoongi closed the front door softly. he took off his shoes and then continued into the house.
"jimin!" he called out once more, his voice again met with silence. he continued to walk but stopped when he heard a quiet sniffling coming from a room down his hallway.
yoongi furrowed his eyebrows and frowned, coming closer to his bedroom door. he put his ear up to the door and his frown only grew when he heard whimpering on the inside. 'jimin..?'
"jimin, are you okay?" yoongi said, quieter than his earlier calls for the younger.
"yoongi-hyung, is that you?" he heard jimin's small, pleading voice choke out. instead of answering the boy, yoongi opened the door and walked into the room, immediately going over the boy that was curled up on his bed, holding onto his pillow and had kicked away all the blankets.
"jiminie, what's wrong?" yoongi asked, already very well knowing what was wrong. before he could let the younger speak, he added, "i know i should've told you that i was going out, but i didn't think i was going to be gone for so long, i really only was going out for late breakfast."
"i was so worried about you hyung. i called you a lot and i waited for hours for you too. i called taetae and asked him what i should do and he said i shouldn't worry but i didn't listen to him and i worred a lot and i waited. i didn't think you were going to come back hyung, i called you so many times..."
yoongi didn't care that jimin was overreacting, he just felt regret and upset at himself for not thinking of how sensitive jimin was. 'jimin i'm so sorry, i really care but it doesn't seem like i do..'
however, he thought about it and yoongi didn't remember getting any calls while he was out and he grabbed out his phone. realizing his phone was on do not disturb the whole time, he looked at his notifications.
