As I slowly walk up to the office I imagine all the things I could be getting in trouble for. The list just goes on and on. I open the door to see...Jake? "J-Jake what are you doing here?" my voice shaking. Jake never comes to get me unless something is seriously wrong. I’m so scared of what could be wrong.
"Just go get your stuff and come with me. There's an emergency." As quickly as I walked in I turned around and walked right out. As I got to the gym I gave my coach the note that said I could leave. I hurried to grab my bag and I ran out of the gym. Still in workout clothes. Shit. Oh well, I can change in the car. As I walked through the office door, the lady sitting at the computer pointed toward the front door. I walked out and found my brother sitting in his 2014 F-150. It was gorgeous I might say. I opened the door and threw my stuff in the back. As soon as I shut the door he speed off. “Jake. What is it. What’s wrong?” I questioned. “It’s Taylor. He’s been in a wreck.” Taylor was my boyfriend. We’ve been dating for 2 and a half years. I didn’t have any classes with him this year and I hadn’t seen him around school today so if figured he was just sick. “Wr-wreck? How bad is it?” “I’m not sure but from what I’ve heard it’s pretty bad.” Oh gosh. This cannot be happening. I can’t imagine my life without him.
As we pull up at the ER, I jump out of the truck and run through the doors to the waiting room. I see his parents. “What happened? I Taylor ok? When can I see him?” I blurt out all of these questions so fast I don’t even have time to realize I’m in running shorts and a tank top. “Uh honey why don’t you sit down.” Taylor’s mom says with a worried look on her face. “Taylor was in a bad wreck where an 18-wheeler ran a red light and t-boned him. He’s in critical condition in the ICU and they aren’t letting any visitors in. Not even us.” I begin to sob violently. This CANT be happening. IT JUST CANT. I love him. Why does bad things always have to happen to me? Right as I’m about to walk out I see the doctor walk in. I quickly turn around to see what he has to say.
