The dark storm clouds and the incessant rain always reminded me of you.
It's not romantic, it's painful.
The heavy grey clouds remind me how you hide those beautiful set of eyes under dark kohl liner or smoked eye shadows, your mood board listing spots of grey over a yearning summer sun.
The petrichor, your musky air.
The illuminating streak of lightning reminds me how your bright white smile doesn't turn your lip upwards anymore, doesn't crinkle the corner of your eyes. It's as good as plastic.
The sonorous thunder clap piercing by my pinna reminds me how everytime you banged the door close, knees shaky, body achy and cried yourself to sleep and seeing that how my heart shattered with a glassy burst.
The shower from heaven beating against the window pane reminds how timeless agony streams down your pastel cheeks and crystallizes beneath your chin.
The soggy earth, the aftermath of a catastrophe.
And just like that, now you're collateral damage.• • •
