Authors note:

Chapter One
"I can't believe it!" I say as I look again at the apartment I just purchased.
"Me neither. I can't believe my baby girl's all grown up and living on her own now." My mother teared up.
I went over and gave my mom a hug, and she squeezed me real right. "I'll be alright mom, I swear."
"We already looked at the campus and the classrooms you'll be in, so I guess I should get going. I have one more thing to give you though. Follow me."
I followed my mother down the steps and she lead me to her car.
"You wanted me to say goodbye to your car?" I asked her.
"Nah, I want you to turn around... and look at your new car!" she squealed.
My eyes went wide. "Are you sure this is mine?" I asked her, not taking my eyes off of it.
She came around her car, gave me the key to it, and told me she had to go. "Bye Savannah." She said, and got into her car and left me standing and staring at my car.
My car. This is the car that I've always dreamed of having. A red, 2013 Chevy Malibu with black interior. My dream car, right in front of me, and all I'm doing is staring at it.
I finally got the nerve to unlock and get in. I didn't start it for at least five minutes. I just sat there, in my car. My very first car. And it's even the car I've always dreamed of owning.
I started the car and watched all of the little gears and such come to life. I put the car in Drive, and drove. I drove and drove and drove.
I pulled up into a gas station and filled up my car. I had to drive a couple miles to get to my school. I decided to go to Wayne State in Wayne Nebraska. It was a good distance from home, but not too far. I wanted to go there just to double check that I knew where all of my classes were.
****
I arrived at Wayne State at around 1 in the afternoon. It seemed like a lot of students were there to check things out. Just like me, except I was there for my second time.
I went to the classroom I was supposed to have English Composition. When I arrived, there was a girl already in there.
She turned around and noticed me standing there. "Hi. I'm Tracy." She said and held out her hand for me to shake it.
"I'm Savannah." I said while shaking her hand.
"What hour do you have this class. Or do you have it at all?" she asked me.
I smiled, "I do have this class. And I have it hours 8-9. I'm also taking a journalism class, I have that hours 10-12."
"That's really cool! I'm also taking a journalism class, but that's hours 11-12, so it must be with a different professor." Tracy told me.
"Yea, I guess so. Well I'll see you in a couple of weeks when class starts."
"You too." Tracy said and gave me a small hug.
I smiled at her and left the room. She seems like a sweet girl, maybe I'll sit with her on the first day of class.
I got back in my car after I made sure where the journalism room was. I was a bit hungry so I stopped at McDonald's.
I just got my food and sat down when I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around to see Tracy standing behind me.
"Well this is sort of a coincidence." she half giggled.
I thought it was pretty amusing too so I laughed along with her. "Why don't you go get some food, and come sit and eat with me?" I half questioned/half told her.
"Okay!" and before I knew it she was already up at the counter ordering some food.
****
While we were eating, we talked about our lives. We talked about where we came from, what we're going to major in, and grown up things.
After it got sort of quiet between us, I told Tracy that I should probably get going. I had to go get some furniture, dishes, and home supplies for my apartment.
"Would you mind if maybe I tagged along with you?" Tracy asked me.
"I don't mean to be rude or anything, but I'd rather do this kind of thing by myself. Maybe after I've settled in and got everything situated you would like to come over?"
"That sounds wonderful!" she exclaimed.
"Well alrighty then!" I smiled, "I should probably be going, I don't want to be out too late."
Tracy waved goodbye and off to the furniture store I went.
****
At the furniture store, a sales lady came up to me.
"Hi, my name is Ashley. Is there anything in particular you're looking for?" she asked me.
"I'm kind of not sure actually. I just got an apartment today and I'm looking for furniture for it." I told the sales lady name Ashley.
"I could maybe help you, if you'd like?" she asked me.
"Yea actually, that would be nice."
It's almost as if she barely gets to help anyone because when I said yes to her offer, she got the biggest smile on her face. I swear, even her eyes smiled.
"Before we get started," Ashley was saying, "what's your name?"
"Savannah." I told her.
"Well. Savannah." she grabbed my wrist. "Let's get started."
Ashley had the biggest smile on her face when she pulled to where she thought we should first start. So I felt pretty good about letting her help me pick out what to go in my apartment.
