I held my brother Joey's hand tightly and kept a steady almost jogging pace to keep up with the energetic 8 year old. It seemed he had limitless energy but I still found myself exhausted very quickly.

"Slow down a little bit!" I complained as he started to break into a run. I felt bad as his shoulders sagged to slow down with me. "I wanted to be there early though Alex...." Joey replied tugging a little bit on my sleeve. I didn't really feel like running but picked up my pace anyways to satisfy him. The sidewalk looked almost shiny after the early morning rain and finally the willow tree that was on school campus came into view above the dense tree line. The tree had been on campus for as long as I could remember, and was very very old. I had even seen Joey attempt to climb it once just like hundreds of bored kids before him.

"Seeya later!" Joey exclaimed giving a wave to me and heading to the elementary doors. I waved back and continued my journey to the high school. I still wasn't sure if when Joey left I was more relaxed or not. In some ways I wished I could complain about my siblings like almost my whole class did but in reality Joey was a giant portion of my life. Heck, I couldn't even think of a time the kid had even upset me. I guess I just wished I had someone who was a bigger part of my life that wasn't my family. Joey was nice enough and Shady had always been open to anything I wanted to talk to her about but someone different would be nice. I almost feel selfish for saying something like that, that they aren't enough. Normally my sighs fade into my subconscious but this time it almost rattled my brain. I walked through the high school doors talking my normal path to my locker. Teens chatted around me and middle schoolers yelled at each for minor events. Walking down a ramp to another set of lockers I stood solemnly in front of mine. The chatter grew louder to my right and I turned quickly to face it. Walking down the hall was a boy I hadn't seen before which wasn't shocking but I almost wish I'd seen him sooner. His hair looked beyond fluffy and was combed but had poofed out severely since. He had soft brown eyes that were round with a sense of care. His face was handsome to say the least and when he glanced back at me I felt my heart skip a beat.

"You are a sophomore right?" his voice was like heaven.

"Yah a-are you new here?" I asked. He gave me a smile that I assumed was what created the definition for gorgeous.

"Yes! They kinda told me where the classes were but all I really picked up was where the sophomore lockers were." He laughed and seemed kinda awkward but in the best way.

"I'll show you around."
