A Blizzard's Arrival

A week later...

It was snowing outside. The forecast that the weather woman predicted came true, and now it was a winter wonderland. You were supposed to get at least six inches of snow, and the ground was already covered in the white powder. The trees that where around your house were also covered in snow, and the birch trees looked absolutely stunning.

Even if there was a small blizzard outside, you couldn't help but want to go out there. You pressed your face against the window you were looking out of in your living room. You could already feel the cold creeping onto your cheek, shivering slightly at the touch. You watched in awe as the snow fell down from the sky in large flakes, landing on the ground as they added to the layers of snow that were already there.

It was so white outside, the snow only came down in larger amounts by the minute. You longed to be out there, but you knew that it wasn't a very good idea. You couldn't see very far out the window, and if you went outside, it would be flying into your face making it very hard to navigate. But even if you did stay inside, there was one room at the top right of your mansion that was made completely out of glass.

Yes, it was perfect for vewing and enjoying all kinds of outside weather, and all the while you could still enjoy the comfort of being safe from potentially harmful situations (like being stuck in a snow storm). You would usually go up there either if it was raining, snowing, or just to star gaze. In fact, your parents had it built just for you. You were very thankful for it, as you loved going there.

Walking into the center of your mansion, you were greeted by two massive (but very elegant) staircases, that were placed parallel to each other on each side of the large room. They lead up to three stories, but there were a total of four. As you made your way up one staircase, a sudden thought crossed your mind, 'what if Jack Frost was the one creating all the blizzards and snow fall across the world, and he freezes all of the lakes and ocean?'

You snickered, knowing that that was a stupid thought to be having. I mean, there was no way that he was real. He's just a myth after all... You shook your head, trying to rid yourself of these thoughts. 'Why in the world am I thinking about Jack Frost? I never played any attention to him before, so why am I now?' It was strange that this was happening. You sighed, continuing your way up the long staircase.

Once you reached the top floor, you realized just how long it had been since you had been up there. Was it a month? Two months? Either way, it was safe to say that you didnt spent much time up there. You remembered, your parents had a large bedroom that they shared on the third floor. It was located far off to the right of you. You liked to avoid that general area, as you didn't want to be reminded of your loss. You headed to your left, since that was the direction that you had to go anyway to find the room you were looking for.

After a short walk, you went up a small staircase that led up to the large glass room. It took up about a forth of the area of the roof on the mansion. There was a beautiful rug on the floor, which matched the couch and chairs, as well as most of the other decor. There wasn't a whole lot of stuff in the room though, and that was because if there was too much stuff, it would take away the beautie of the outdoor scenery.

You walked over to one of the glass walls, pressing your hands against it, and watched as the snow flew towards you from outside. As your attention was focused on that, you didn't seem to take notice to the small, snowflake patterns, that started to appear on the glass in front of you. It was like a thin layer of ice, creating a beautiful piece of art. It began to spread around the glass, making small swirly patterns above your head.

As it spread a little further down the glass walls of the room, you began to take notice of it, and watched in amazement. It was beautiful, almost as if someone painted it on the outside of the glass as a decoration. You smiled, enjoying watching the ice swirl around and create new patterns on the glass. Although...It was kind of odd to you as to how that could be happening. It only just started snowing this morning.

You shrugged it off, I mean, why question it when you can just enjoy it?

Sooner or later, the ice stopped spreading, and now you were left to look at the detailed patterns that it made. You sighed, then walked over to a machine that you had in the room that made hot chocolate. You pushed some buttons, then waited. About a minute later, it served you a red, white, and green cup filled with hot chocolate. Marshmallows decorated the top, along with a little bit of cream. You then grabbed the cup and a provided coaster, and brought it over to a couch and sat down.

You wanted to enjoy that day, the first day of winter.
