Your shoulders dropped as you looked yourself over in the full length mirror fixed to your closet door. This outfit wouldn't do either. It was supposed to be a casual date that you light heartedly agreed to during a silly game.
Why were you trying so hard? It was just Corazon, perhaps you were a bit worried about what other people might think. Although he does look younger than he is, his adopted son is your age and a friend of yours no less.

Ugh. This might be too weird.

"F/N!" Nami called approaching your door, "It's starting to rain."

Of course it was.

"Thanks. Hey, can I borrow those cute black boots then?" You cracked the door open.
"Sure but if you scuff them up you're buying them from me." She entered her room which was next to yours and came back out with a frown, "You aren't wearing that."

The ginger shoved you back into your room closing the door behind herself.

"You don't need to try so hard. It's just a cup of coffee." She began shifting clothes around in your closet, "Where's that red sweater dress?"
"You borrowed it." You rolled your eyes.

She vanished returning with the article of clothing.

You pulled on a pair of black leggings and slipped the dress over your camisole adjusting the cowl neckline.

"Perfect." Nami chimed.

You French braided your bangs back and pulled the rest of your curled hair into a high ponytail. One last modest makeup check and you turned to face your roommate.

"Nervous?" She quirked a brow.
"No." You scoffed, "It's just a date. No big deal."
"Yeah, with our friend's dad." She added.
"Adopted...and really he isn't even 40." You corrected checking your phone, "Shit."
"You spent too long playing dress up." She laughed as you shoved your feet into her boots and dashed out of the room.
"You look nice today F/N~" Sanji cooed cinching his tie while you grabbed your purse and slouched  into your coat.
"Thanks." A warm flush found your cheeks as you slipped out the door brushing passed Zoro on his way in.

"What's up with F/N?" The greenette grumbled.
"Late for her date." Nami replied crossing into the kitchen.

The muffled sound of rain pounding on the pavement got louder as you approached the double doors leading out of your building. You dug through your purse before brandishing your small navy umbrella and opening it. Walking in the rain was the worst and that was only amplified by your inability to be on time. You picked up your pace crossing streets, trying to be mindful of puddles.

Finally the café came into view, one more block to go. Your stomach fluttered. Were you really about to do this? For a brief moment you contemplated turning around, but you couldn't do that to Corazon. He was always so sweet, and genuine. Not to mention you saw each other on a fairly regular basis. But if this date went south you were certain it wouldn't be uncomfortable to just go back to the way things were prior to the Halloween party.
Stepping under the café's awning you closed your umbrella and gave it a shake before pulling the door open. A rush of warm coffee scented air caressed your face pulling you over the threshold. The place seemed fairly empty as you scanned the room for the tall blond.

"F/N." You turned to see the man in question jolt up from his seat somehow tangling his legs in the chair sending him forward into the neighboring table.
"Christ are you ok?" You rushed over to help the clumsy man back to his feet.
"I'm fine. I'm fine." He brushed himself off taking a seat.

A rivulet of blood trickled down the bridge of his nose.

"Uh ...you're bleeding." You grabbed a napkin from the table, brushed his shaggy hair out of his face and applied pressure to the small cut between his brows.

A staff member had come to straighten the tables and chairs next to you; when he was finished you asked for a bag of ice for Corazon's head. He must feel incredibly lucky that Law chose to go into the medical field, though his clumsiness may have even played a factor.

His slender fingers wound around your wrist drawing your attention back to his slightly flushing face. He was so tall that even while he was sitting you were almost eye to eye.

"Thanks F/N," He said shyly, "I can take it from here."

"Right." You allowed him to take over with the make shift compress as the server returned with a bag of ice.

This date was going to be a disaster.
