I look at the drained down girl in front of me. The golden brown hair, permanently in a high messy bun, had been released down, leaving it in soft curls that bounced with every movement. The Ice blue eyes, that sparkled, with a thin black flick on the top half, was a dull colour with no sparkle and smudged black all over the place. This girl unfortunately had to be me. I slipped out of my clothes and went into the shower. After I had a final rinse off, I switched the shower off. I grabbed the towel and wrapped it around my soaking body. I applied a small flick of eyeliner on my upper lash line and a bold red lipstick on my lips. I grabbed my straighteners and did my hair, as I walked into my kitchen I looked at my reflection in the gorgeous full length mirror. My red worn out converse, matched with my forest green jeans and my white Hollister tank top. My hair was in a ponytail, perfectly straight. I grabbed my art folder walked out into the sunlight.
I stopped at Jazmine's house. I sat on the massive boulder and switched my iPod on full blast.
"I can't tell you what it really is
I can only tell you what it feels like
And right now there's a steel knife in my windpipe
I can't breathe but I still fight all I can fight
As long as the wrong feels right it's like I'm in flight
High off of love, drunk from my hate
It's like I'm huffin' paint and I love her
The more I suffer, I suffocate
Right before I'm about to drown, she resuscitates
Me, she fuckin' hates me and I love it, Wait!
Where you going? I'm leaving you.
No you ain't. Come back. We're running right back
Here we go again, it's so insane
'Cause when it's going good, it's going great
I'm Superman with the wind in his back
She's Lois Lane, but when it's bad, it's awful
I feel so ashamed, I snapped, "Who's that dude?"
I don't even know his name
I laid hands on her; I'll never stoop so low again
I guess I don't know my own strength"
That song was my weakness. It was too relatable it hurt. But now he was gone, I was safe. Without noticing I was rapping along and my hand travelled up to my scar. It was about to start raining so I got up and sat under the big oak tree. I started daydreaming, getting so caught up in my thoughts I was pacing around the tree, and that was a long walk. Suddenly I froze; I had heard the rustling of footsteps on the leaves behind me. Slyly I took off one of my headphones.
'Don’t get nervous! Ariana!' suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder. I grabbed it and twisted it round until I heard Josh shriek in pain.
'Shit girl!'
My eyes widened, and I quickly released his arm and spluttered out a sorry. He nodded, the spoke in a hushed tone, anger mixed in
‘Jazmine left with Jake 1 hour ago. You're 30 minutes late for school.'
I sighed. Then ran away. When I reached the gate I turned around and saw him sitting at the bottom of the tree, with his head in hands. I grabbed my phone then started walking. I checked the time.9.37.
great!
PING!
I had just gotten a message.
'Want a ride?'
It was from Josh, I turned around and saw his car behind me. The roof was down, the sun hitting his tender face. His brown eyes were glowing.
'Sure thing!'
I opened the door and we were cruising to school. When I was at the gate, I said thank you and gave him a hug.
"bye," I said in my quirky voice, he smiled then drove away.
"Miss Yule, you appear to be an hour late. Care to explain?"
"I..I.. Got lost."
"Better not lose yourself on the way to detention this afternoon."
The class was silent.
I took my seat, and pulled my bangs down to cover my eyes.
Suddenly the door burst open. There he was Ashton, the soccer team captain. He had earned himself a detention, with me. Just us two. For an hour.
Shit.
