The Backwoods

Chapter 1-The Trail

     Xander awoke for his sleep and looked at the time, "6:45, right on time." He thought to himself.
     He was a tall boy with brown hair, brown eyes and moderately pale skin.                        
     He stood up and looked around at his surroundings and then he remembered, he was in Banff as him and his friends had taken a road trip here. They had chose a rustic log cabin to stay in, it was a large cabin with a grand fireplace and many rooms.
     Once he left his room he looked downstairs to see the familiar sight of his friends Tyrain and Leah.
     Tyrian was a tall brown haired boy with darkly colored eyes and moderately pale skin.
     Then there was his girlfriend Leah, she was a girl with around average height, her hair dyed black, she also had darkly colored eyes and glasses.

     "Good morning guys." Said Xander, yawning as he said it.
     "You're up early." Replied Leah as she looked up to see him at the top of the stairs.     
     "Meh, this is around normal for me but it's weird how some of the others are still asleep after how early they usually wake up." Replied Xander as he walked down the stairs.  
     "Yeah, I would have at least thought that Aurora would have been awake by now." Said Leah as she looked up to Aurora's room door.
     "Yeah." Replied Xander looking up at Aurora's room door to see if she was awake.
     Just then Aurora walked out of her room. She was a shorter brown haired girl with glasses and darkly colored eyes.
     Then she asked. "Was someone calling me?"
     "We were just wondering when you'd wake up." Replied Xander as he went to sit down on one of the many couches.
     "Oh ok." She replied as she walked down the stairs.

     "I'm hungry, what's for breakfast?" Asked Tyrian looking at the kitchen.
     "I could cook up some pancakes if you're all interessted." Replied Xander as he stood up.
     "Sounds good." They all replied looking at Xander.

     Once Xander was done making the pancakes out came Autumn and Jade.
     Autumn was a moderately tall girl with black hair, darkly colored eyes and moderately pale skin.
     On the other hand Jade was a shorter girl with ginger hair, blue eyes, glasses, and pale skin.
     "Do any of you two want some pancakes?" Asked Tyrian looking at them.
     "Sure." They replied as they walked in to see the rest of the group.

     Once they were all done eating not everyone was awake.
     "Is anyone up for a small hike?" Asked Xander looking Tyrian.
     "I'd rather sit here and do nothing." Replied Leah as she sat in an even more comfortable position.
     Just then Miles walked out of his room and said. "Once I take my meds I'm down to go for a hike."
     Miles was a moderately tall boy with blonde hair, blue eyes and pale skin.
     Then Tyrian said as he stood up. "I'm in."

     After a few minutes Leah and Aurora decided to go.
     They put on their hiking book and started walking. After about 15 minutes they stumbled upon a small path in the woods.
     Xander was hesitant to take it however the others were taking it and he didn't want to be left alone.
     They came out on a beautiful view across the mountainside and they all agreed that it was worth taking that pathway.

     Back at the cabin Autumn complained. "I'm bored."
     "That makes two of us." Replied Jade slouching back in her chair.
     Just then Skyler walked out of her room and greeted them. "Good morning."
     Skyler was a shorter girl with dark brown hair, darkly colored eyes and pale skin.
     "Where are the others?" She asked looking around the room.
     "They went for a hike in the woods." Replied Jade looking out the window.
     "So you guys have been sitting here this whole time?" She asked as she walked down the stairs. 
     "Pretty much." Replied Autumn as she slouched back even more than Jade was.
     "Well that sounds boring." Replied Skyler as she looked around the room for something to do.
     "Well, what can you do." Said Jade looking at the ceiling for no apparent reason.
     "We could play a game." Replied Skyler as she held up a deck of cards.

     Just then Dante and Roy woke up and came down to say hello.
     Dante was a tall boy with brown hair, blue eyes and pale skin.
     On the other hand Roy was a tall boy with black hair, lightly colored eyes and pale skin.
     "Good morning you two." Replied Skyler in a kind tone.
     "Have any of you seen Xander?" Asked Dante as he looked around the room.
     "He went for a walk with 4 of the others." Replied Jade pointing out the door.
     "Ok." Replied Dante as he sat down on the couch.
     "I wonder if they've seen anything cool." Said Roy as he sat down beside Dante.
     Probably, so do you want to play a game of cards?" Asked Skyler as she held up the deck of cards once more.
          "Why not." Said Dante as he began to sit up.

     Back at the viewpoint the group was admiring the view.
     Aurora said as she admired the view. "Wow, the rest of the group is missing out."
     "Definitely." Replied Leah looking upon the horizon.
     "Did anyone bring a camera?" Asked Xander searching his pockets for his phone or his camera.
     "Not me." They all replied as they emptied their pockets.
     "Well that sucks!" Exclaimed Aurora in an annoyed tone.
     "Well, what can you do." Replied Xander as he tried to make a mental image of the viewpoint.
     Just then they felt a shake as the rocky mountainside they stood on stared to crumble beneath them! They stared to panic as they stared to fall do the mountain into the forest below, and then, they blacked out.
