It was my last day.
During free period, I lied and told Jimin and Seokjin I was going to use the bathroom, but instead I went and searched all the free classrooms in hopes of finding Taehyung somewhere. I almost gave up hope after looking through all of the classrooms, but then remembered; our old spot.
Taehyung and I had discovered this place while studying together in the library in early October. It was a secluded storage room near the back that looked like no one had gone inside in decades. A few desks and chairs were littered around the class with boxes stacked on top of them, but Taehyung and I had pulled a few towards the large window that reached from the ceiling to the carpet. It faced the field behind our school that led into the forest and was covered half way up with bushes, so we never worried about someone seeing us. It was a lot better during warm days when the sun beat down on our cold bodies from the school's air conditioning. As the days grew colder, we pulled the curtains closed and talked for the entire hour underneath a blanket Taehyung had brought from home. We learned a lot from each other during those times.
But it hadn't been used in nearly a month. I had gone there a few days after texting Taehyung in hopes he'd be there, but he wasn't. The large blue blanket sat still on the pulled together desks, cold and covered in a thin layer of dust. I had cried and promised myself to not visit the room again, but today was different. I was sure Taehyung would be there, waiting for me, even if he didn't know I'd be coming.
And he was.
I opened the door slowly and silently and stopped when it was nearly open once I landed my eyes on the form of Taehyung. His chin was resting on his hands lying crossed in front of him on the table, the blue blanket wrapped around him. He watched the snow as it fell down from the pale white sky. I took a step forward and Taehyung froze and locked his eyes with mine.
"You promised."
I stood there, a little confused, until I realized what Taehyung was referring to. "I did. And I broke it."
A few silent moments passed. Taehyung never broke our eye contact. He shifted a bit and he closed his eyes. I took a few steps nearer but stopped in front of the desk, not sure if it was okay for me to be closer. Taehyung opened his eyes and looked at me. "I love you."
I stood, rigid, not knowing what to say. It must of been a full minute before I knew exactly what to say next.
"I love you too."
