"Is that a baby?"
Start:
Holy crap, Holy crap, Holy crap, what do I say? think dammit! I yell to myself starring straight into the eyes of my baby's daddy. His eyes focused on me as he tilts his head to the side still listening to Dee cry. Crap, I thought, why now? Should I tell him? No. Yes? Oh who knows just thinking about it makes me feel sick.
"Kerra? Are you alright your turning abit pale," I wanted to shout, scream or do something to him and tell him 'Oh I don't know maybe because you don't know that, that noise you hear is your baby daughter' but I couldn't or more or less didn't have the guts to say it. "Kerra?" he asked again and this time I stood up to fast knocking him in the process, "Kerra, what's wrong?" he asked from the ground, just act cool everything will be alright, trying to convince myself, but of course it's a lie.
I was starting to stress, which then lead to me babbling out crap, "Sorry that's my TV I must have left it on, I better go turn it off." I started forward ignoring his doubtful yet curious eyes, "Well I'm coming that TV must be awesome it sounded so realistic," he got up but I pushed him onto the couch, "No," I said resiting the feel of his hard chest through the thin piece of material, "No?" he questioned, but to me his questioned sounded more like 'no you don't want this?' I think, or maybe it's just me.
"No, you can't," I say literally pealing my hands off his chest, and with a simple shrug he says "Fine whatever, but before you go could you grab the remote and maybe even a foot massage....yeah that will be great, then you can take care of that horrible noise," horrible noise? I was tempted to slap his head but then remembered he didn't know Dee. Quickly grabbing the remote from the coffee table I tossed it at his lean form which was sprawled out along the couch.
"Ow! That wasn't really nice Kerra," he whined rubbing his forehead, I laughed and shrugged, "You are such a girl," I muttered, "And your such a guy," he replied laughing a bit too, I just wish this would last, the laughing, smiling but I know it won't last cause the moment he laughed he seemed to rethink himself and with a blank face he turned to the T.V.
Turning away from him I half speed walk and jog upstairs to my room, I couldn't hear Dee's cries anymore and I wondered if she had dosed back to sleep. The door to my room was wide open, did I leave it like that? I thought. And my mother instincts kicked in, I rushed the last few steps to my room and found Mason with Dee cradled in his arms, swaying her from side to side while making small, soothing sounds to calm her down.
The scene was so cute I just stopped and stared. I couldn't stop myself from imagining that Mason was Jayden, holding his daughter delicately in his arms as if she were the frailest thing in the world. Silently I close the door behind me and walk over to stand behind Mason. "Bubba, I can't believe you, Jayden is just down the hall do you really want him to find out like this?" I whisper angrily standing now at his back. "Do you know how close he is to finding out about her?" I continued angrily.
No answer. "Bubba?" I say moving so I could see him, but as I catch a glimpse of his face my anger evaporates. I stare at his face as he stares down at Dee who is silently looking back at him with her big blue eyes, and what I see on his face melts my heart. Tears trickle down his face, and by reflex I reach up and wipe it away making his face turn up to meet my eyes.
We stare and stare and stare until I can't take it anymore, "Mason why are you crying?" he smiles at me and then looks back at Dee, "I don't mean to sound like a total sissy but she is just so..... beautiful Kerra, so small, and she looks so much like.............," "Jayden," I finished for him, he nodded and chuckled abit, "She has his eyes, his hair, his face, she's so cute," at this guilt creeps through me, and again I wonder am I doing the right thing? "Yeah I get that a lot," he runs his thumb gently across her cheeks making her smile.
