Chapter Four

~Sonic POV~

I looked at my hand as Shadow finished wrapping it and looked at Maria. She barked again making me flinch but she came over and sniffed at my hand. She gave it a few licks before nuzzling under it. I pet her head gently and her tail wagged.

"Sorry about Maria. She's still pretty young and gets scared in the outside world...we rescued her from a shelter where her older brothers were abused and her mother was starved." Shadow explained. "When she sees someone isn't a threat she's sweet as cherry pie"

"It's ok Shadow. It's my fault anyway I should've asked before petting her"

"yea that would've been best but its whatever. You hungry Faker?" I quickly nodded hearing my stomach growl.

"Do you have any Chili dogs?" I asked my own tail wagging along with Maria's as he brought up food. Maria barked in agreement and i laughed.

"you are going to teach Maria bad habits" Shadow groaned.

"Hey it could be worse. Doxie's small but she always jumps on the table and sometimes steals my fool" I laughed as he rolled his eyes going to make food. I blinked softly worried about my little Doxie. "Shadow....can I go get Doxie? She doesn't do good home alone"

"Sure i guess." Shadow said. I smiled and ran out getting her and happily bringing her to shadow's.

"Thank you!" I put her on the ground watching her and Maria interact. They sniffed at each other then Maria picked up Doxie like a puppy and lied down in her bed with her. I laughed and snapped a quick picture. "Shadow look at Maria and Doxie" Shadow came in with a plate of food and smirked softly. How come that hedgehog doesn't let himself smile?

"Alright Faker that is adorable. Your yapping football is so small Maria thinks she's a puppy" I rolled my eyes at his comment but we sat on the couch eating as we watched some TV. I blinked as my phone rang and walked off answering.

"hello?"

"Bro where are you and Doxie? Also did that neighbor get his dog? I saw her running by earlier but I couldn't go chase her I had to get my newest invention done"

"yea tails! Also you know that new student Shadow?"

"yea?"

"he's our neighbor! I'm currently at his place eating food and watching TV. I stopped by earlier to bring Doxie here. I heard your machines and knew you were busy so i took her with me anyway"

"Well as long as you two are ok."

"yea. Anyway I should get back I can hear Doxie howling. Bye Tails" I hung up and sat back down on the couch with Shadow. "Sorry that was my bro Tails" I saw Doxie run over and give me those usual pout eyes and i couldn't help it. I split my chili dog in half and gave her the smaller half which she ate happily. I don't know if that's healthy but a little bit wouldn't hurt her. "So Shadow what do you wanna do?"

"No clue" He said.
