Melissa silently wondered if it was always this cold in Topeka. Well, in Topeka's defense, it was January. Melissa had just moved to the outskirts of the Kansas city, and was almost beginning to regret it.

She'd finally worked up the nerve to tell her parents in South Carolina that she'd be moving away to go to the local Topekan university, which, after extended research, was a decent college with a relatively cheap anthropology program. Yes, go ahead and laugh now. Get it all out. Anthropology.

Melissa was currently residing in a dorm at the U, but unlike the other students, she was alone. Everyone else had gotten a roomate. Lissa was the odd one out, unfortunately. And when the professor in charge of organizing the students had offered to make two other girls cramp up with Melissa in the dorm that was meant to fit two people, Melissa had just refused, insisting she'd probably be better alone anyways.

Melissa has social anxiety, as you may begin to tell. But not just social anxiety, but anxiety in general. Not to mention depression. Her parents were very controlling and sheltering, teaching her from a young age that the outside world is bad. As if to prove them right, Melissa's ex-friend, her only friend at the time, Karly, declared their non-friendship and publicly humilliated Lissa at the age of 13. Naturally, this event has ruined Melissa for trusting anyone.

But despite her mental state, Melissa still attracts people's attention. She's actually rather pretty. She has mid-length honey blonde hair that naturally gets darker near the roots and amber-brown eyes. But Melissa tries to avoid people due to her fears, and this makes her seem aloof to strangers. As a result, no one has ever actually bothered to tell her how pretty she actually is. Melissa doesn't have the best self-image in the world.

People's shoulders and elbows now bump at the girl as she rushes down the street, almost, but not quite, invisible to strangers. This is all Melissa is now;invisible.

But she hasen't met Crowley yet.
