Everyone has their own darkness that follows them. Some may handle it better than others. Some may not be able to handle it at all. It all depends on who you are and how great the darkness you carry is. Not everyone can handle having a dark past, and some people can handle it only because their dark past is stealing a cookie out of the jar. No matter the darkness we all hide, it all has one thing in common. It shapes us to who we are. Now I know what you are thinking. Who are you and why are you telling me all these things that everyone knows but are too afraid to say out loud? Well my dear friend I'm glad you asked. I go by many different names. Some may call me a freak and some may call me by who I truly am. Ginger Haley. Yes my name is Ginger Haley. I have long red curly hair I have green eyes and I am not very tall. I am 17 years of age and I am no different from you. We are alike in many ways. I go to school. I have friends. I have a mother. I have siblings. All these similarities yet one thing different. Our pasts. Our darkness. I will tell you why I am the way I am but to do so I'll have to tell you the story on who made me tell it first. The boy who started the darkness.

It all started 2 years ago. Not too long ago. I was 15 and I was a sophomore at Filly County High. I had lived in Filly County for about 2 years before this incident. I had many friends. I was popular. I fit in. Then in August of my sophomore year he happened. Trevor Yeat. He moved to the county and that's when it all started. Let me start from the day he ruined my whole life and dug up the darkest part of my past. The day I fell for him.

It was a Friday night. We had just got off school. Me and Trevor were in our spot. We call it our spot but it's really just a spot in the woods that looks over the city. I was laying down with my head in his lap as he was sitting down playing with my hair. "Ginger." Trevor says slightly trying not to disturb the peace.

"Trevor." I say back looking at him.

"What are we doing?" He asks me. I laugh slightly.

"We are hanging out in the forest." I say simply.

"Not not what are we doing right now, I mean what are we all doing here. On earth." He asks looking up at the sky.

I think about it for a moment. I gather all my thoughts up to form something to say. "I believe we are all put here for a reason. Everyone's reason is different. Life is just this abyss of color and loss all to lead to what the world truly hides. Darkness." I say looking out to the city.

"So you think we don't have purpose but to live and then die in the end?" He asks.

"I mean what else could life offer us?" I question.

"Hope." He states  simply. I look at him and give him a questioning look. "I believe that people are here on this earth for a bigger purpose. Some people are here to save lives some people are here to end lives." He says

"So the world is just full of darkness. No matter how big everyone carries darkness." I say. That's when everything I ever believed changed. It changed my entire life even though I was 15. "What's your darkness?" I ask him.

"What?" He asks.

"You said everyone has a darkness they carry, what's yours?" I ask again. He looks at the ground for a minute then back at me.

"My darkness? Funny question. Yes it's true everyone does have a darkness whether it be stealing a cookie out of the jar or it be ending someone's life. Mine however. Mine is far worse." He says not taking his eyes off of me. I just open my mouth not knowing exactly what to say. "I have many dark things that have happened to me. Some are worse than others." He says looking back at the ground.

"I'll tell you something that's happened to me if you tell me what's made you this way." I tell him. He nods.

"When I was 5 my older brother killed himself. He was supposed to be babysitting me. He said we were playing hide and seek. I went and I hid. It was 10 minutes and he still hasn't said ready or not so I decided to see what was happening. I walk back to his room. As soon as I opened the door he shot himself. I screamed bloody murder. I didn't know what to do. I ran across the street to my neighbor who called the ambulance and police. The cops asked me what I saw and I couldn't get the image out of my fucking mind. They told me he wrote a note. They said he mentioned me and he wanted me to know that he loves me and he was just not in the right place. I felt like I could have done something. I thought maybe I if was easier to babysit or if I wasn't so needy he would still be here." He says with tears welling up in his eyes. I hug him.
